Good idea Debs – I sometimes wonder if first time visitors to this board are not a little daunted or frightened by some of the 'warts and all' postings. Of course they are an important part of the process but a little balance of positivity and hope would be an excellent addition IMHO.8-)

Hi David,
Sorry to hear that everything is normal.:-D
I think the best thing is to ask your GP if there is any risk about having it twice… dependent on your consultant's reply that is.
I was pretty neurotic for the first three or four months but I started to feel less so after my hair was back and I felt Ok about going to crowded…[Read more]

Hi Bella,
I presume this is Bangor in North Wales rather than Bangor in Northern Ireland? I live in the Isle of Man and am having my treatment at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. They have been very good there so I would have no hesitation in recommending them. I'd like to think there might be somewhere nearer for you, however. Maybe Wrexham or…[Read more]

Hi, im not a newbie as such. I was on the old site and spoke to a few of you about my mum. She has had myeloma for nearly 2 yrs now. She is 71 and has had some treatment. At the moment she is doing ok, she is on monitoring bloods. Her paraproteins are slowly rising and that does worry us. But on the positive side the consultant said because her…[Read more]

Hi Derek,
Yes, I have had the same thing. I wasn't convinced at first that it was actually peripheral neuropathy and wondered if my leg numbness was caused by the same back pain that took me to my GP in the first place (leading to the eventual diagnosis of MM). However, I have had various scans and x-rays done and now accept that the leg and…[Read more]

Hi Pamela, (As I typed your name I found myself pronouncing it a la 'Smithy', from the BBC's 'Gavin and Stacey', – 'Pam – El – Ah). 🙂
I haven't really looked into it yet (I either like surprises or I'm a fatalist… 'I'll deal with it when it arises') but I too have been told that I will need 'pins' – one in my upper left arm and one in…[Read more]

Hi Tom
They will be trying to get me on the Revlimid in Feb and then stem cell treatment 6 months later, so its the same as yours. It reassures me when you say never looked back. Still cant believe this is happening, but as you say onwards and upwards.:-) Great to be around people who know what it is like. Will keep in touch. Kay x

Can you slip your consultant a Christmas Cracker and get him to say that Stephen's clogs will be popped by next year? If he is still with us this time next year (and for several after that) you can tell the *&%$£^@!!!ing Bank Manager that is a miracle… its happened before. 😀 🙂 😎 >:-)

Hi Roz,
If what Andrea has told you turns out to be the case then I hope that someone (perhaps Andrea?) can put you in touch with a local hospice. Even if the Doctor does decide on no more treatment for Myeloma there will still have to be a positive and structured plan for palliative care… and a regime of medication etc. because Michael…[Read more]
