Glad to say I have finished my 4th and final cycle of CDT. Having a break till beginning of September, to enable us to have a holiday.
Then it will be all systems go to get ready for SCT. Feel a bit nervous about having the line fitted, but have been told that it's not too bad.

I was diagnosed with smouldering myleloma in 2010 after a routine blood test showed something not quite right with my red blood cells.
I went on being monitored ever 3 months till Jan of this year. I had an MRI which showed I had fractured a vertebrae and had 3 lesions on my lower spine. This was the start of my active treatment.

I'm on cycle 4 of CDT (hopefully my last before SCT) My pp dropped from 33 to 3 in 2 cycles.

I love your term localised flooding. But it works well, thanks.
The only problem is I have to go upstairs to the loo! I am so weak, it feels like climbing Everest!!
On a better note, after 2 cycles of CDT my pp level has dropped from 33 to 3. So hopefully 4 cycles will be enough.

Hi,
Has anyone suffered from cyctitis like symptoms when on this drug?
As long as I drink plenty, the burning goes away.
The first time I had it, my GP gave me anti biotics which seemed to work.
But the next time, they had no effect.
Looks like it is another side effect.

Hi,
I am on cycle 3 of 5 CDT and my taste buds are not working either. Also I have not felt hungry, but am eating well. I find drinking 3 litres a day a bit hard, But am managing it.

Hi Alison,
I agree about the mood swings. Tuesday and Wednesday will be douvet days i guess. But I am sleeping very well, due to the Thalidomide and anti sickness tablets at night. But my husband says I snore!!!!

A step in the right direction.
Went to see the consultant yesterday and he told me that the paraprotien level in my blood has dropped from 32 to 14.
So looks like the chemo is working. What a relief. Hopefully by the time I go back in three weeks time it will have dropped even more.
So I am now on cycle 2 of 4.

Just reading your post gives me the encouragement I need. I'm on day 20 of the first 21 course. Still seems a long way to go, especially when I'm feeling 'down' after the Dex.

Thanks for replying. It was the allopurinol to blame. So I aam back on track with the Thaliomide. I'm on day 17 of the first 21 day course.
It seems a long way to go at the moment.
Back at hospital on Wednesday to see how things are going.

Hi everyone,
Went away at the weekend. All was ok till I came out in a raised rash. It spread down to my legs and also inside my eyelids! I had a very sore throat and was sick.
I rang the 24hr help line at my hospital, the Myeloma nurse was lovely and told me it was a common side effect of one or both of the above.

I have heard from other people on here about Dex, but had not experienced the lows I have felt over the last few days.
At least if I know there is light at the end of the tunnell, at least for a few days it will be worth it.

After 4 days of 40mg Dex and feeling ok, next dose is days 12 ? 15. I have spent the last 2 days feeling like a ?wet blanket? and very tired and fed up.

Yes SCT is the ultimate aim for me. I feel really tired and 'down' at the moment. Hope it improves when I take the dex again.

Hi all,
Does anyone else suffer from the pain of trapped wind in the evening and nighttime. It can be eased if I pardon, the expression, 'burp'. The pain is in my back and chest and up into my jaw.
I had it very badly last night.

Hi,
I am on day 3 of CTD and yesterday woke up with a flushed looking face. To be honest its the first time I've looked healthy for a long time!!:-D
It does't itch or hurt, just wondered with of the drugs may have caused it.
Still got no appetite.
