Hi Keith
I wish I could help you but I cannot,I know Dex does not help sugar levels, plus I know since Slim has been on chemo his cravings for sugar are unbelievable, never touched sugar before,do I put him on a fad food diet,!!!,my attitude is what ever he will eat, cannot afford to loose any more weight:-S
I know all about green tea, green…[Read more]

Hi Keith,
My treatment includes Dex (on it now in fact!) I was told not to eat sugary stuff (easier said than done) as it can cause _temporary_ diabetes like effects. So hang on in there. Not permanent, I think.
No wonder you are feeling crap, but it will pass I'm sure. When I've been physically low (e.g. Last wek neutropenic) my positive…[Read more]

Hi Dai
You do sound a bit more cheerful.
I'm glad to see there is a possible reason/cure in process, how has this latest development affected the armchair Olympics? Will you be disqualified now for taking life enhancing drugs?
Love Helen

Hi Ali
This is the hard bit,you mum will sleep a lot, take a book to read,if the clothes are soiled just get the nurses to throw them away, this is were your mum will feel if she is loosing control, very emotional for her,the nurses understand, but expect a few tears, you keep your chin up,tell your mum she is through the worst, the nurses should be…[Read more]

Hi Wendy
Ostrich behaviour is a good holding strategy until you make your mind up about things I find! I'm going to use it when I need to! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's just a blip in the sflc's, and everything settles down.
Your holiday in Asia sounds exciting, where abouts are you going? I've just booked to go to Venice in September.…[Read more]

Hi Ali
I wondered how you were getting on. I've just consulted the diary I kept and I dropped my bloods to 0 on day 8 from the chemo, they started to come back on day 13 from the chemo and they let me out at day 16 from chemo. My mouth was like leather from day 4 and stayed like that for about 6 weeks, very dry but not really sore. My main…[Read more]

Hi Keith
Oh dear, you are going from situation to situation, but good news with the pps being down again.
Sadly high dose dex can cause diabetes and it is just another thing to add to the list of its awful side effects, but it's working on the pps so it's a balance of risks. You will have to ask if it's permanent, and what can they do to stop…[Read more]

Hi Andy
Slim says that why worry about it if you cannot change it,and he sleeps like a baby,it's me up in the middle of the night:-/
It,s the unknown that is worrying,I am sure once you go,you will feel more assured, have you far to travel!!!
