Hi Helen and Tom
Well he is holding his own, went down to 61.4 now 62.2 so not to bad.
As you can guess from his name ,he has always been Slim,he looks very healthy at 12st 8lb.But 9st 8Lb gives no room for any extra that might come his way.
My thanks to you both, for your support,it does look if he has turned the corner, had bloods taken…[Read more]

Hi jean
Just a quick reply.
There should be a notice some were that tells you ,you have every right to see results of test, and bloods are test.Next time get 20 pence out of your purse and give it to them and shame them, how dare they not give you a print out!!!!!!
At the moment I know the results by phone but every week or so I ask for a print out,Eve

Hi Eve
Thanks for that. A couple of months ago I asked for a print out and was told they were not allowed to print the results – saving paper!!! So i just make a note of them in Myeloma diary. They said bloods were ok haemaglobin 13.5. Said light chains had changed a bit. Now that I know a bit more I will be more demanding. I remember one of…[Read more]

Hi Jean
Well you know about Slims bloods plus kappa light chains!!!,the bloods only give an indication of the cells,If you ask for a copy of the bloods every time you go,its states the results if they are out of the band they should be in it will show you. This way you can keep your own watch on them.
Eg haemoglobin 9.2 g/dl (13 to 18 )…[Read more]

Hi
After consultation with registrar yesterday and conflicting responses to Franks protein dropping by itself (registrar saying it was good and consultant saying it was bad)I took the advice of Helen and phoned our Myeloma nurse. The long and short of it is that after 6 years, although very rare the myeloma has changed from secretory to…[Read more]

Hi Eve
I know it is hard, it is a measure of your love that you care so much. I've never gone back to my pre transplant weight and lost several kilos last week, I'm very aware of my family subtly offering chocolate and scones etc which I just don't feel like eating. 🙁 As long as he has the fluids and enjoys what he does eat then it will…[Read more]

Hi Alison
I'm just about 11 months post SCT and have had my first hair cut since loosing mine. I found it quite devastating, wore the wig for a few months but never felt secure in it, dreaded a high wind in case it flew off!:-0 I hope all goes well with your mums transplant, soon it will all be done.

Hi Dee
You are having a bad time of it. The chemotherapy usually is a few drugs which work together to help reduce the volume of myeloma cells in the bones. You take them for about 3-4 weeks each cycle. Sometimes they are oral drugs or a mixture of oral and intravenous ones. Depending on what he is on and how well they work, he will have about…[Read more]
