Hi Megan
I have just finished reading again Phil's journey. These posts are really great as you can follow a journey and see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂 frank is still on a drip. When I ask him what is happening he shrugs – he's not like me I want to know everything. They put the 7.6 million back and I asked Frank to ask…[Read more]

Hello Ted
It is nice to see you, I think your surgeon and haematologist need to get their heads together and plan what is the best pathway for you. See if your clinical nurse specialist can fix it. It may be that if your immune cell numbers are still normal there may be no trouble doing surgery and if the surgery is not urgent there may be no…[Read more]

Hi Ann
I know how you feel watching Pete in pain and not been able to help him. I do hope he starts to feel better soon. It is good that his levels are up. Ann exactly what type of isolation was Pete in ? Thank you for thinking of Frank with all that is on your mind. Frank in a room of his own – has been since he went in. You go into a little…[Read more]

Yes you are going to need a lot of surpport ,you are a bit young to be taking all this and even with the best will in the world, it is to much, have you a social worker??? Are you claiming the maximin allowances?… If not see a mac millan nurse,if you ring them up they will visit at home, she should be able to help with forms,it…[Read more]

Hi Everybody
It is interesting how people differ when given. Zometa Slim started on it 2 years ago the same time he started treatment ,but now because we see consultant every. 2 months the Zometa is now given every 2 months,we were told as time goes by it is less effective . He has never had any flu symptoms, to make things easier we have…[Read more]

Hello Jet
Keith and I each did a spot at last years Newcastle info day. I found it very scary. Keith had his second transplant a week before i had my first, so we each talked about the run up to diagnosis/relapse. His was a seemingly effortless talk and he talked about his involvement with the PEER group too. I confess to copious notes and I did…[Read more]

Hi Helen he said he would phone first thing. Nothing yet. Will give him half an hour and then will ring. NO WE DIDN'T WIN. WE WERE ROBBED 😛 Didn't hear from him after the match. I got home in time for the second half. Wish he would phone getting a bit anxious.

Helen replied to the topic Curly Hair after SCT. in the forum Side-effects 11 years, 9 months ago
Hi Babs
Mine came back very curly and much thicker but very dull, it stayed like that for about 6 months then it went straight, much straighter than before, so I dyed it blonde and wear it short and spiked. It is now very high maintenance, takes ages to do.

Hello Helen
Good name! I kept our cat at a distance for about 6 months, he was fed in the garage and I never touched him or his food dishes nor was he allowed to sit on the sofa I sat on- which we had cleaned before transplant- he still doesn't sit beside me very often, I think he was traumatised by the experience! He too is 13. I've had lots of…[Read more]

Tom cells went back at 1pm. He said they put the 7.6 Million back. He was shaking from top to toe he was so cold but he settled and has been snoring for the past 2 hours. If I don't wake him for the United match he will kill me 😛 I did tell him about the mouth wash but I will remind him when he wakes

Franks has just phoned Helen with a shopping list as long as your arm 🙂 including soft toilet rolls, so runny tummy has started. He also said that transplant is at 1pm so I have not to cone till 2. I said I wanted to be there and he said that they won't let me in the room. Not sure if that is him talking or doctors. He is really taking on…[Read more]

Hi Tom
I just say it as I see it,and people should not ask questions if they do not want answers. I think coming from Liverpool is the reason people seem to be more blunt and take bad news and turn it into a lighter thing,it helps people to talk to you about it.
I do find my sense of humour does get me in to trouble down south,as I have aged,I…[Read more]

No it's normal I think…. The stem cell transplant is the endpoint…. It's what you have been looking and working towards for such a long time, and it's still going to give the best chance for long remission, so it's very important. I remember being quite excited about the cells going back, which is also weird. Though without them I'd have been…[Read more]
