I am so pleased that everything went well and you all had a chance to celebrate Derek's life as well as mourning his death

    Kindest thoughts Gill xx

DEX!!!!!!! How I hate it and am grateful to it at the same time. Stephen should be on it now as it will be used as part of his maintenance regime. It has been held back for the moment because of his shingles.

When Stephen was first prescribed it the dose was huge and Stephen was horrid but for ages did not recognise that it was him and not me.…[Read more]

Dai I am sure that Janet will back you to the hilt. GO you only get one chance in life and you should grab the opportunities

I want to wrap Stephen in cotton wool and keep him close to me to take care of him, but I know that whatever life any of us have should be lived. Stephen is not a stupid person. If he ever fancied bungie jumping he is…[Read more]

Like everyone else Welcome and wish you were not here

Please ask away My husband (Stephen) was diagnosed at 53 and that was considered young then (2008)

Everybody on here will be only too pleased to chat, answer questions when they can and give you support. Do try the under 50s group too. I keep trying to convince them I am 16 (I'm 62 but…[Read more]

    Cough relief

If it says balsam on the label and it is thick and brown Oh Boy does it relieve a cough.

Cures bugger all BUT taken in a little drop of very hot water it soothes no end.

Some of us oldies still have helpful ideas My mum would be 98 now and shoved Owbridges balsam down my throught every time I coughed. I don't think you can…[Read more]

I am not sure what Dai meant but I know it was good wishes and hey Tom I never forget any of you I don't post as often as usual but only because the Internet connection in the middle of the French wilderness is very hit and miss (more miss than hit) I can read you all most times but answering is a nightmare. Very frustrating when you are as…[Read more]

I am sure that you can all imagine the joy that I felt this morning phoning the b and b we use when we go to France (the days of doing the 16 hour trip in one go are long over for both of us) deux personnes deux petits chiens chiens d'une nuit svp.

With the receptionist's little bit of Engl;ish and my little bit of french. We are on our way…[Read more]

    Hi Janet
So sorry to hear your news – we all dread it and wonder how we will react when it comes.
Things have changed so much in five years and perhaps you could try lenalidomide or velcade – there are quite a lot of new things now.
Anyway, you try and look after yourself and make an appointment to ask your ever growing list of questions . I…[Read more]

Merci tout le monde de vos bons souhaits

Thanks all for your good wishes (I hope I got that right. It is quite easy to say something very rude in a language that is not easy for you hence the true story of the guy in France that asked for penis flavoured jam (wanted pine flavoured honey, and NEVER say I am hot as it means your feeling sexy8-) I…[Read more]

    Dear Janet

It is a setback to find you have relapsed. My husband was diagnosed at 53 and had 16 month remission before he relapsed. He had a second SCT which did not take and has just had a course of revlimid. His pps are not too bad but there is other damage showing that the drugs are not working.

He too suffers from chest infections and…[Read more]

  • Thanks for crossed fingers Eve.

I hope you get to France soon. Funny thing is Stephen's heart is very much in France but, try ashe may, The language defies him.

    Love from Gill xx

  • Fingers crossed please.

Stephen has always been one of the people with mm whose bloods do not show high pp levels. Boney damage has been the beastie that shows how bad his mm is.

Because we were going to France for a while Stephen's specialist said he would like to check him over before we went off for 5 or 6 weeks. Bloods taken all OK:-)…[Read more]

  • Oh Jean

I was so sorry to read your post. Both Stephen and I are only children so have no idea what it must be like to lose a brother or sister. We both regret not having siblings to share our worries with but maybe it's not a bad thing.

I am so sorry to hear that Phil died. This is such a nasty illness for everybody but particularly cruel to young people like Phil.
