  • Hi Alison

Sorry to see you here (in the nicest possible way)I think this is a site that we are all very grateful for but all we wish that we had never had to even look for it let alone join.

It is my husband who has mm diagnosed in 2008 when he was 53. He has had 2 STCs but is not doing so well with this second one (much slower…[Read more]

  • Gill replied to the topic My father in the forum Carers 13 years, 7 months ago

I am so sorry that you are having such a rough time and all on top of losing Gordon.

I have no cure for your shouting M I L, well one or two but nothing legal:-) Shouting back would probably not help. You could try keeping a crossword by the phone and just make sympathetic clucky noises down the phone whilst filling out the crossword.

    I…[Read more]

  • Hi Bridget

Good luck with your RT Hope it zaps that pain right out of the window.

Stephen saw the radiology oncologist today and he is to be zapped next week. Like you he cannot wait as he is in a great deal of pain at the moment. His scan has shown that he has a tumour that is, as the doctor put it, nipping his spine and that is what is…[Read more]

  • Jean it is not you I posted a word and a chat and then realised that the word I had chosen did not have all 3 last letters so I quickly deleted it 🙁

It is me with senior moments as I cannot even remember what the word was:-/

My message to Bridget was that I would not even remember if we had the same 3 letters twice but I think we would…[Read more]

  • Before I suggest my word I will tell you that my heart sunk when I saw that the webteam had replied to to my first try of getting this game up and running. I thought that they were going to say it was a too frivolous subject.:-/

My word is going to be

    ESSENCE

    Anybody want to grab NCE?

Hi Paul I am so pleased that the dex is not affecting you Good luck with the rest of your treatment and do still pop in to this side of the site as well as the under 50s Stephen (husband with mm) is 56 and was diagnosed when he was 53. Stephen and dex did not go well together, and it is great to hear that it does not affect everybody in a negative…[Read more]

Ecstasy? Cannabis? I have had to stop Stephen climbing up into the loft to look for his kaftan, beads and psychodelic LPs.

We grew up in the 60s 🙂

On a far more serious note. It infuriates me to hear that hospitals are not willing to fund certain treatments eg Sharon's PET scans. I am no math buff and probably would not understand the…[Read more]

Dai has a far better way with words than I do but I am sure his eloquence speaks for all of us.

I hope Wednesday is a great celebration of Peter's life and I will be thinking of you.

Thanks to Eve for pointing out the attachments. What lovely photos and what treasured memories they will be

Sorry Jean I have no knowledge of this at all. Hopefully somebody will be able to explain. Have you thought of asking the nurses on this site? I know, from what other people have said, that they are very helpful.

I spent a little time in the States and there was a lovely saying our neighbours had (more than one saying but I will save others for…[Read more]

    Dear Min

I am saddened and completely shocked to know that Peter has died. I really thought that they would find an antibiotic that would knock back his infections and he would recover.

I, like others on here, will be thinking of you in the days to come. Please keep in touch when you feel up to it.

    Much love Gill xxx

  • This becomes addictive.
How about onomatopoeia from Eve's woman (clever one Eve considering your name is classed as the first woman:-)

I did think of the above word and know what it means but had to check the dictionary for the correct spelling. Is that cheating? It's getting the Os and As in the right place that I struggle with.

I am so pleased that you are more comfortable Bridget. I hope you are now managing to sleep and get some well earned rest

I did not explain the game very well. The only thing I would add is that the word can be as simple or as complicated as you like

  • For others out there who are not asleep in the wee small hours I thought I would tempt you all to put your thinking caps on. Somebody started this word game on a French forum that I belong to and it seems to be popular. It is called the last three letters.

You have to put up a word that contains the last 3 letters of the previous word. The word…[Read more]

Yep a tanner in London too. Anybody remember the threepenny piece? and if you were lucky you got a silver joey in your change (small silver coin worth 3d 4 farthings (small copper coin) added up to 1 old penny (1d) and you could by a licorice black jack sweetie (wrapped) or a mint chew for a farthing.

There is a website called "a quarter of"…[Read more]
