You moan all you like Eve. Why not? I must say that we do not seem to have the type of problems that others here seem to have with getting prescription meds.
They seem to issue a prescription for us to take to our local chemist and then it gets filled. Sometimes we have to go back to the chemist's after a few hours while they get it in and…[Read more]

Thanks to everybody for all the replies. Stephen is listening to his own body now and again "giving in" as he puts it and resting more often. It makes such a difference as when he is not very, very tired he can do some of the things that he wants to do without feeling crippled.
Thanks Min for the poo pee tip We had already put the poo-pee pad…[Read more]

Hi Izabella (sp?) It's a beautiful name.
Horrid, horrid time you are going through Kev will turn a corner and you both will have a "normal" life back. I remember before Stephen (mm husband) was first told he would go for a SCT we were told "We will make you feel worse before we make you feel better" Ain't that the truth! Unfortunately you both…[Read more]

OK I have now withdrawn my pity for Stephen's bad tummy on Velcade. Because he was not affected by the tum problems on previous doses HE WAS NOT TAKING HIS ANTI SICKNESS DRUGS!!!!!!!
After a particularly bad vomiting stint where he couldn't even keep water down he took the tablets with a huge glass of water and then immediately up-chucked…[Read more]

Gill replied to the topic Velcade in the forum Side-effects 14 years ago
Well this drug is certainly taking it's toll. Stephen has had very little in the way of side effects gregarding tummy problems this far. After reading other's posts regarding Velcade he felt very lucky.
This has now changed dramaticaly. His new best friends are the loo bowl and a bucket. 1 item for each end!! he does not even seem to be able…[Read more]

Dear Mark I am sorry that your dad has got mm It is still quite an unusual cancer, but our GP said that although she was used to seeing it (huge doctor's practice) she was seeing younger and younger people with mm and your dad is still quite young.
There is a great deal of research going into mm at the moment so let's all hope that it will help…[Read more]

What Do Retired People Do All Day?
Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting.
Well, for example, the other day my wife and I went into town and went into a shop.
We were only in there for about 5 minutes. When we came out, there was a traffic warden writing out a parking ticket.
We went up…[Read more]

I think that Myeloma is still quite an unusual cancer (trust my husband to get something unusual) but when we first saw the head of haematology at King's College Hospital he said that mm was considered to be "quite a sexy subject for research at the moment"
I take it that means there is a great deal of research being done so maybe it will come…[Read more]

Hi Keith Stephen (husband mm person) is on Velcade at the moment. He is hoping to go for a second SCT later this year. He get's very, very tired on the Velcade and of course the Dex that goes with it is not a pleasent experience.
Stephen's taste has certainly suffered and the only thing he can get some idea of flavour with is spicy food, curry…[Read more]

Thank you so much Jean for reminding me of this great, funny trio (fascinating Aida) I don't think they are together now, but are doing a reunion soon. Their cheap flights song has to be one that makes everybody laugh.

Hi Ozzy
1 month before you see your consultant must seem ages away but may seem nearer if you have some targets. Can you phone your consultant and ask when you can start back at work and introducing some "naughty" foods into your diet? I remember my (mm) husband getting quite excited when I first allowed hin to come to Tescos with me after his…[Read more]
