Hi Min god to hear Peter has realised you need a bit of looking after too , even if its only a sandwich its the thought that counts. Perhaps he is worse this time because he is more scared , angry than the first time , I know relapsing brought up a whole load of emotions for me the worst being feeling helpless! I am struggling with these new painkillers , the pain at night is awful The nurses at the hospice now monitor me and after dropping from 70mg Preglabalin ( I was abit shaky and out of it) to 25mg I now have to take 25mg in the morning as well Trouble is it knocks me out for most of the day and to be honest I am sick of taking thses strong pills too but whats the alternative !So onwards and upwards ! We will get there in the end Hope you have had some sun today and been in the garden love Bridget x

Hi Min I am so glad you are enjoying your gardening , if anyone deserves a break you do!Perhaps Peter needs a kick up the backide , I bet he doesnt even realise he is being a brat!!So let him fend for himself a bit , even if its only a few hours and I am sure he will realise how lucky he is to have you looking after him. You said you think us patients have it tough but I honestly think its our partners who deserve a medal for putting up with us . I hope you have a better week and Peter too of course love Bridget x

Hi Dai like youI have not had a full nights sleep since being diagnosed 5 years ago!! Apart from the fact that I have to sleep in a semi sitting position I rarely manage more than 2 or 3 hours a night! Mind you I can cat-nap with the best of them ,and Jeff watches me like a hawk sometimes ( I have been known to drop off despite having a cup of coffee in my hand!) On the plus side motor racing , snooker or cricket can send me to the land of nod in a flash but it would be lovely to stay there a bit longer love Bridget x

Hi Eve Jo and Dai your posts just highlight the problems when health professionals become so arrogant it makes them more than negligent bordering on criminally deficient In your grandsons case Eve one woman has ruined his chance of a normal life , you must have been heartbroken and to not admit it was their mistake until the very end is truly despicable but so often the case when they are called to account for their actions. Eve I learnt when Siobhan was a baby that I or another family member needed to be with her in hospital to make sure she got what she needed at the right time and like you I question everything and look things up Dai that wretched man who was so cavalier with your life and health is the most arrogant doctor I have ever heard of , I remember reading your first post and crying at the sheer inhumanity Thank goodness you moved and got the treatment you deserved, I would be tempted to send him a postcard but then again he wouldnt get it would he!!! Jo your gp should be shot !!How on earth could he have not known you were so ill The thoughtless silly comments by acquaintances , friends and family are one thing but these professional( not sure they deserve that title) just beggar belief and questions need o be asked about their fitness to practice Thank goodness for all the medical professional who are good at their job and show humanity and compassion as well , at least there are lots more of the good ones love Bridget x

Hi Meike so sorry you have found yourself dealing with myeloma but you will find this site a great help for answers but also support for you and Christin as well . I can remember very clearly what a rollercoaster it was when I was first diagnosed but it does get easier as you get used to all the treatmentand life does become more normal. Its good that your husband is seeing someone about his pain , bone pain is very common in myeloma but there are lots of solutions just tell him not to suffer in silence let the doctors know so they can adjust doses or change painkillers Recently I had some radiotherapy to help wit particularly bad back pain and it worked brilliantly !! When I was diagnosed they found that two and a half vertebrae had been destroyed , I had been in agony for months, I had a major reconstruction of my spine using metal rods and plates . Like your husband I worried about how mobile I would be and how much pain wouldthere be but although I cant climb mountains or run marathons I am able to walk unaided and do things for myself As for the pain that is kept under control with painkillers and as I mentioned before radiotherapy Your husbands age will be a big plus in getting his mobility back and he sounds as if he is generally fit too . Good luck with Velcade , its worked well for lots of people and dont forget we are here if you need us . Christin sounds like a daughter any mum and dad would be very proud of best wishes Bridget

Hi Min your post just goes to show professionals are just as capable of stupidity as the rest of us!! The scary thing is these people literally have our lives in their hands so I do expect more from them As for the professional arrogance that doctor showed in not considering that just possibly Peter may have myeloma and doing a simple test they are the absolute worst in their profession !!Grrr now I am going to wander around the room muttering to myself about the arrogance of some doctors , thank goodness for the good ones Hope Peter has had a good day and has an even better one tomorrow love Bridget x

Hi Jo got a whole bag of new painkillers yesterday at clinic , so will have to see if they work !!Hard to know what Revlimid is doing for me as my paraproteins dont tell the true story( little fibbers always read low even when myeloma is on the rampage!) I have to have frquent mri scans to see whats going on. Lucky you werent at clinic yesterday it was a nightmare – over an hour wait for bloods , 2 hours late to see Dr Yong the another 2 hours at pharmacy !!Aaaargh !!Hope its better for you next week How are you and the family ? Hope you are all well, looks like nice weather on the way for the weekend so I am looking forward to that Take care Jo love Bridget x
