Hi Dai I am glad to hear you are feeling a little better , it is horrible when something like that makes you feel as if you are going backwards though ! When I was on Velcade I expected to feel great and have lods of energy on my week off! Wrong the weeek that was drug free was a complete wash-out, which got to be tolerable because I was expecting it Hopefully yours is just a blip love Bridget x
Hi Nikki its lovely to hear things are good for you and Sam As you said its hard to imagine that it could be that way when you are facing the worst myeloma can throw at you!! Enjoy your holiday love Bridget x
Dear Gaye it really does seem so unfair that you should get no relief from the pain as others have said its something we are all told we wont have to endure I will be thinking of you on Thursday and hope like mad they can finally do something for you . Kathleen I am so sorry you are having a rotten time , I can only imagine how rotten 2 or 3 pulses of dex must make you feel!! Keep on hanging in there and fingers crossed things will get better soon love Bridget x
Hi Gina the fact that there is no sign of anything in your mums bm is great , I think this is a more important marker than pp levels which can fluctuate Chest infections can leave you exhausted for ages and I think the power failures is very apt, I can now fall asleep at the drop of a hat during the day!! If the docs arent too worried at this stage I would be reassured by that , Dr Yongs team are so thorough and experienced if they arent suggesting any treatment yet then I wouldnt worry too much , they do act quickly when treatment is necessary Say hi to mum for me love Bridget x
Hi Ali sorry to hear Guy is having such a tough time but hang in there There are various treatments to help with the bone damage, I have extensive bone damage everywhere except my left arm and left thigh They may give uy a drug called Parmidronate or Zometa which helps strengthen the bones and relieve pain , this can have an amazing effect quite quickly. As much as he must want to be home he will get the best treatment in hospital at the moment and hopefully he will feel the benefit before too long. I am glad to hear you have your children to support you it must tough seeing your husband at such a low point but dont give up , take things a day at a time love Bridget x
Dai as always you have found the beautiful words to say what so many of us would like to . I hereby nominate you as our resident wordsmith, I would have said poet laureate but I think someone else got that gig love Bridget x
Hi Eve brilliant news I am so glad Slim is home where he belongs . Now he can start to get better and you can relax knowing he is safe with you looking after him Dont wear yourself out though , make time for you as well love Bridget x
Hi Everyone just thought I would share my good news After discussing me and reviewing my mri images my nurse rang to tell me there is no evidence of any new activity or lesions !! I must admit that is a huge reief I had been very anxious the beast was on the way back!! So now they are referring me to the palliative care team to change my pain relief to possibly Fentanyl patches. Gaye are you under the palliative care team ? I saw the other day you are still in awful pain , its been so long you must be desperate for some relief, I think of you often and just wish they would sort you out soon love Bridget xx
Hi Dai I am so glad you showed that critter who is boss!!! Its amazing how quickly these things leave when faced with a nice dose of poison !! You could always buy a chest wig Dai haha love Bridget x
Hi Ali welcome to you and Guy as others have said we are all here for each other so if you need answers ask and if you just need to offload when things get too much this is the place to do it! It really will get easier as Guys treatment gets underway and you will get some normality back in your life before too long .I hope Guy gets home soon love Bridget x
Good Morning David what brilliant news to start the week !! You must be so relieved to have got the all clear, now you can relax . I hope the niggle in your neck is just that love Bridget x
Dear Susan I am so sad to hear Kevin has gone, my thoughts are with you and your family. I can fully understand his decision to have some control over this wretched illness and his bravery does not surprise me one bit . I am sure you have a lifetime of happy memories to get you through the hard times and it was a privelige to have known even a small part of him love Bridget x
Dear Tina I am so sad to hear Patrick has gone , your posts allowed us to know him a little and he must have been an amazing man The memories you have of your life together will get you through the dark days hang on to them Lots of love you Bridgetxx
Hi Mavis thank you for your lovely kind words where would I be without you all !! I had a phone call today but the radiologists report of my mri wasnt ready Apparently they are going to discuss me in the team meeting on Monday though so fingers crossed Today I had to go to UCH to check out the swelling on my leg It wasnt a clot but they think it is cellulitis caused by the water retention, theres always something new with myeloma, life is just full of surprises!! love Bridget x
Dear Lorraine of course you should offload sometimes and where better than here , we all understand what you are going through! As for the pains in your arms etc one of my problems with Rev has been the weekly cycle of absolute agony in my arms as well as everywhere else .I think in my case it is the Rev but whether it affects me more because I have extensive bone damage I dont know It does sound a good idea for you to have a break though you have been on it a long time Your doctor sounds great it makes such a difference when you have faith in them doesnt it Hang in there Lorraine and if you have the odd wobbly moment you know where we are love Bridget x
