Ha ha David good one to start the day !! love Bridget x
Dear Gaye how are you feeling ? Any news on your rt yet? I am now addicted to scandinavian tv police dramas on bbc 4 .Wallander got me hooked , even better than the Kenneth Branagh versionNow on Saturdays we watcg 2 hours of danish drama , The Killing I highly recommend it lots of characters that you care about and very well acted As long as sub-titles dont get on your nerves its truly brilliant ! lots of love Bridget x
Hi Min I hope increasing the dose does the trick this time too In the past dex has caused water retention problems for me so I have Ferusomide at the ready Could your itching be caused by anxiety ? You have so much on your plate and the waiting for a date cant help , hopefully your lovely employers will let you go very quickly I hope you are doing something special for your birthday tomorrow and you have a wonderful day As for being forgetful I suffer from that too and on big birthdays you are allowed to as outrageous as you feel like Thanks for the diary reminder I have one but havent actually used it yet , I will go and fill it in now , as long as I can remember where it is !!Hope you get some sleep night Bridget x
Dear Min thankyou thats very reassuring . I realised today I had slipped up in taking Revlimid at the same time as dex so tomorrow I will take it last thing and hope to sleep like a baby!! What dose of dex was Peter on? I am on 40mg for the first 4 days of each cycle and was told it may be possible to reduce it after a short while. Your new consultant sounds great no wonder you both feel more positive , its a shame not all doctors work in partnership with us patients and our families . Its interesting that a donor transplant is a possibility for Peter , I was told very early on it would not be possible for me , this is in part hospital policy based on age but also my own condition , but at least you have a chance of one so fingers crossed . Have they given you a date for your redundancy decision yet? The waiting must be so frustrating !! love to you both Bridget x
Dear Min I was pleased to see on another post that Peter is feeling a bit better this week , long may it continue Yesterday was my first dose and it wasnt a great day ,I just felt yuk all day and very lethargic What surprised me was I didnt get a rush of energy from the 40mg of dex at all , I had hoped it would override any tiredness from the revlimid .Forgive me but I have forgotten if Peter had extra pains initially? I had various joint and back pains that were new and it certainly wasnt a restful night , but hopefully that will ease up soon . How is your sciatica now? I hope its a better , the pain from that is every bit as awful as any myeloma pain love to you both Bridget x
Hi David how very true Unfortunately politicians newly in power are like junior doctors and would have us believe they and their strategies are much better than anyone else before them Ha ha!! love Bridget x
Dear Sarah and Min you are both going to enjoy not working you will soon wonder how you ever found the time to work!! The extra time with the grandchildren alone makes it worthwhile . Min I am living on benefits now and a small work pension and my solution for the shopping is on-line The big 3 supermarkets are all pretty good and the delivery charge is much less than I would spend in the store, also I keep a favourites list and most weeks I can stick to that .Jeff has only been in a supermarket twice in the last 27 years so I dont think we would eat if it was up to him!Sarah I look forward to seeing some pics of your garden this summer, unfortunately gardening is something else I used to be responsible for and now I cant do it any longer I am waiting for Jeff to realise he needs to go out there more than once a year!!Heres to relaxing days with our loved ones which when all is said and done is worth far more than any chores love Bridget x
Hi everyone yesterday I had a near perfect biopsy Heres how it went 9am I arrived and was met by the only nurse on the unit who inspires fear and dread in me !! Its not her fault she is a very large girl but she is brutal at putting cannulas in , on one occasion she made 6 attempts before giving But yesterday went like a dream , although she certainly hasnt got the gentle touch !! A lovely doctor , who I swear was about 12, explained the procedure and was ready in less than 5 minutes , speedy I like . After rearranging me on the bed I was fast asleep in under 5 minutes and I didnt feel a thing .What made me laugh though is being woken by a worried nurse 2 hours later , she couldnt understand why I had been in such a long deep sleep when I had only had 2mg of the sedative. I am convinced its because I want to be asleep so much that I go under so easily No pain util the local wore off later but that I can handle Thankyou to the biopsy fairy who watched over me Hope you are all enjoying the weekend despite the gail force winds love Bridget x
Hi Min good to hear you are about to become a lady of leisure!! Haha I bet thats the last thing you will be but I am so glad you are going to get time to do all the things you want Have you got the cruise brochures yet? love Bridget x
Hi Keith I know what you mean the whole NHS reform issue is worrying me too Trouble is there wont be any mass rebellion against it people will just let it slide in but when it comes to trees they will be chaining themselves to those!! Gos arent equipped to deal with finances they should be given more time to spend with patients not lessAs you say the result will be buying in private sector services which has failed before , hospital housekeeping and laundry services are just one example Its really depressing to think they are going to let good health service practice die out to be replaced by money driven ones Grrrr!! love Bridget x
Hi David and Dai I have never been told I have Bence Jones yet my paraprotein levels bear no relation to any myeloma ativity My consultant uses the serum-free light chain test but even that was showing low values despite very significant myeloma progression and a large tumour My doctor now jokes I am the most difficult patient they have , at least I think he means as far as monitoring !! love Bridget x
Dear Min how very cunning I love the e-mail idea My technophobe husband can look up his dream team only because I put it in favourites but not much else When I have tried to show him a shopping site he ends up on a page which is nothing to do with the original and I then have about 20 pages to remove Maybe he will get the hang of it one day !I hope Peter is feeling a bit better today love Bridget x
Dear Sarah I hope you have had another call to put your mind at rest Oh to be young and fearless again love Bridget x
Dear Gaye and Min ( fellow saddos) I am with you on Holby City I love that programme , even if I do have to watch it on my laptop!! Mind you it is strange that we all spend a lot of time in hospitals yet still enjoy it , must be a deep seated psychlogical reason !! love Bridget x
