    Hi all

Well this is really going on longer than I ever expected. Pete on day 5 of morphine, still cannot swallow anything including water! The morphine is also making him a bit confused. He rang me this morning at 7am, thinking it was 7pm. The good side is, his levels are up and so he is out of isolation. Just wish this horrid throat pain would ease and I can get my Pete back.

Yes I agree Vicki, must focus on the future, because at this moment in time, never felt so low. I know it is not about me, but I just feel so sad and lost!

Thanks to you all for posts, they do really help.

Jean, I hope Frank is doing well.

    Take care all

    Hi all,

Pete no better today, they put him on a morphine drip yesterday and whilst it has helped, he still cannot swallow – even liquids. Could'nt even manage an ice pop today! Horrid to see him in so much pain, but I know everyone is different in the recovery process and suffer in different ways.

Just waiting for him to 'turn the corner' now, Doctor reckons could be the same for a couple of days, but apart from that, his blood levels are where they should be at this stage.

Jean and Frank, best wishes for Monday!

    Take care all of you.

    Best wishes

    Hi Tom and Vicki

Thanks for your comments, it does help knowing that this is the norm! Otherwise I would be worried.

Such a shame about Jean and Frank, they have really had such bad luck!

    Take care

    Hi all

Pete was quite comfortable until today, cannot hardly swallow now, even his tablets, the nurses have had to crush them up. They may give him some morphine tomorrow to help ease the pain. Apparently it will get worse before it gets better!! Well we knew this was one of the side effects, but not nice seeing him in so much discomfort, he has already lost 12lb as well!

Jean – so sorry to hear of another delay for Frank!! Hope you are coping ok.

    Speak soon

    Hi Jean

At long last, hope all goes well.

With Peter at the moment. He is now in isolation, throat swollen, rash on his back. Living off ice cream and jelly. Not too bored at the moment and sleeping quite well.

    Nurses are brilliant.

Good luck to Frank, speak soon

    Love Ann and Peter

    Hi Jean

Hope you get the call soon, you have waited so long, things need to start moving soon.

Pete has completely lost his appetite. I took him in some cheese rolls, at his request – he cannot get on with the hospital food, but he only managed to eat half a roll, said his throat is so dry, cannot swallow easily, that is all he his has eaten today. Was sick a couple of times first thing and has constant nausea, but we knew this was going to happen reading from all people's experiences.

Other than that he is still chirpy, had quite a few visitors today which helped him as well, at least took his mind off how he was feeling.

The smell of sweetcorn has now arrived, not as off putting as I thought, but stronger than I ever imagined!!

Peter – thanks for your post, really pleased to hear that you have turned the corner, keep well!

Vicki and Colin, how are you both doing?

Well we know the worse is still too come, but fingers crossed it will be over soon and life can get back to normal.

Jean, keep in touch and let me know when you get the call!!!

    Take care

    Love

    Hi Chris and Lena

Really pleased to hear you are doing well Chris, great to hear from you both.

Pete has asked me to reply, for some reason he cannot connect to internet, he is going to have another go tonight.

He had line fitted yesterday, but they had to go through his neck! Even Dr Bolam could'nt get it in the normal way. He was uncomfortable yesterday, but really perky today. On chemo drip today and transplant on Friday.

Pete said would be great to see you both, just text him and we can go from there.

Unfortunately he did'nt get your room Chris! Sharing at the moment, really cramped, but eh, the nurses as you say, are fantastic.

    Take care both of you.

    Best wishes

    Hi Jean

Oh so pleased, at long last!!! I have been checking your posts hoping to see this announcement!!!!!

Pete went in Monday for his SCT.

They had problems fitting the line and so in the end it had to be inserted through his neck. The consultant said that 9 out of 10 lines go in really easy, trust Pete to be the unlucky one. Really upset me last night seeing him in so much discomfort, but today he is on a Chemo drip and really quite chirpy. The actual transplant takes place on Friday.

I am so glad I read all the posts relating to other people, you do in a way know what to expect, but not quite, if you know what I mean.

So all looking good at the moment.

Best wishes to you both and keep in touch

    Love Ann

    Hi Jean and Frank

Yes I have been looking at your posts and did wonder why you had'nt said anything about an admission date.

I think Pete has been really lucky, obviously, right time, right place.

    Keep in touch Jean

    Best wishes

    Hi all

Have'nt posted for a while because no news since Pete failed to produce enough stem cells in December for the SCT.

I do visit the site nearly every day, just to see everyone's progress, even though it is good and perhaps not so good news at times.

Well he hit the jackpot today due to a Prelixifor injection – 3.5 million which gives him a total of 4.6.

The other amazing thing is that when the results came through at the hospital in Taunton, the consultant booked him in there and then for the SCT on 18th February!!!
Exciting but really scary, thought we would have to wait at least 4/6 weeks for an admission date. So the journey does really begin.

All of your posts these last 10 months have really helped us along the way and I am sure they will continue to do so – I don't know what we would have done with out your comments and details of your experiences.

Best wishes to all of you.

    Take care

    Hi Chris

Thanks for your message. Not too down, don't mind another visit, (well I have'nt got a choice and the end does justify the means!!)

Bumped in to Dr Bolam at Musgrove yesterday whilst there for bone treatment. He said he would get me in for an appointment in the next couple of weeks to arrange schedule.

No hair loss to date, but I am sure it will happen soon!

Oh my suppose my return to golf is delayed even further!!! Never mind, it will give the weather a chance to improve.

Glad to hear you are feeling good. Best wishes to you and Lena for a lovely Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

    Pete
