Hi Mary
What Tom says is right. The cleaner the better. Frank came home after SCT 2 weeks ago. He did try to climb stairs as soon as he got in but didn't make it. Couple of hours later he did. Now it is his daily exercise – climbing the stairs. I would add to vet all visitors. Mind you I only allow the family and no one else. They know that if they have as much as a sniffle, the must stay away. Mary I also leave a hand sanitizer beside the front door and family now know to do there hands before they see their dad. I even got the electric meter man to do his befor he read the meter. But as my boys say I am paranoid :-/
My best to Charlie and hope he has a relatively easy time

Hello Jean
I know it's hard when your loved one has to start treatment. My hubby had no treatment for 6 1/2 years. He then had pain in his side which turned out to be small lesion on ribs. Radio therapist not concerned about it and did no treatment. Then some months after the consultant said it was time to start treatment. I know it is scary but you will get lots of support and advice on here. We did and still are. Enjoy your holiday and keep posting
Take care
Jean (another one 🙂 )
Aw Tom wondered why you were so quiet on Face book :-S . I do hope you are back to your normal self soon. Think of your poor club – like Franks local – there profits have dropped dramatically 😀 Joking Tom!!! Get well soon

Eve
Glad to hear that Slim has no more lesions. You just seem to be banging your head against a brick wall. Can Ellen or Maggie give you any advice. Franks consultant said that the PET scan was needed to detect how active if at all the Myeloma is. There is no proteins in the blood and as they had been dropping for some months before treatment she suspected no secretory. But eve I asked for tests to be done to see if it was non secretory and we are still waiting. I ask virtually every time we see her and she talks but I do t get an answer
Eve I hope someone finally sees sense and Slim gets the PET scan even for peace of mind

Hi Jacquie
No – no more chemo. His PPs were 1 when transplant happened. But i know others have had much higher PP when transplant took place. He has been home now over a week and every day there is a slight improvement. No good me telling you not to worry as you will, just as I did. What is the delay? Frank goes to Belfast City Hospital in Belfast and they only have 6 sterile units that service the whole of N Ireland for SCT and Leukaemia and lymphoma patients get priority. Have they said when Hickman line to go in. Frank was offered to go to England earlier to have the SCT but not feasible for us. Could Geoff not go to another hospital – maybe not too far from where you live?
Hope you get something sorted soon for Geoff
Take care

Hi Helen as the boys say he must be feeling better as he is complaining 😀 appetite is improving every day. Still not eating a lot but getting there. He had a beer and a whiskey tonight – one thing about Frank – he gets his priorities right. His daily exercise is climbing the stairs a few times a day. When he first came out he couldn't manage them he has a big birthday coming on 28 April. All the boys and families home.
How are you Helen. What's happening?

Hello Jacquie
Frank was harvested in December and transplanted end of February. I was also worried I case he relapsed- proteins going up but consultant did not seem to concerned. Maybe someone else on forum can give you more insight into it. I hope Geoff has an easy time with it
Best wishes
Jean
That's right Helen 6 months for USA

Hi Eve
Don't understand why hospitals all differ. Franks consultant is organising a PET scan for him. As she said no myeloma showed up in blood and as his PPs were falling before treatment started it is the ONLY way to find if the myeloma is active and to what extent. Eve you fight Slims corner with all your strength – keep nagging until they give in if only to shut you up 😛
Best wishes to you and Slim

Hey Jo Jo

Hi Pete and all
Well done Pete 9 years brilliant 🙂 long long may it continue.
We are just back from consultant once again she was ahoy with Franks bloods. But after the news of the other day "NI indication of myeloma in blood" started to bug me. As I said in previous post Franks protein had been dropping long before treatment started. So I questioned consultant about it today and was told that she is more the happy with his bloods very thing is going I the right direction and she will organise a PET scan in a few weeks. So now I'm no wiser off. Feel bad as Franks has told family and friends that there is no Myeloma and we don't know. I won't say anything as everyone – naturally – are delighted. Seeing her next Wednesday so might here more
Love to all

Hi Ella
My advice is to bring appointment forward. My hubby Frank smouldered for 6 and 1/2 years. Then he had a pain in his left side. Tried to coax everyone Including himself that he had pulled a muscle. Consultant sent him for an MRI which showed up a small lesion on ribs. When he saw radio therapist she said it was so small she wouldn't do anything and that she said she thought it would be a long time till she saw him again if ever. I think Ella it's best getting it sorted ASAP if only to put your mind at rest
Take care
Jean
