    Hi Tina and everyone
Sorry you had to join the 'merry' band of dancers with Myeloma, but hope you find, like me,that the support through the discussion group is invaluable.
I start the build-up to Stem Cell collection this Friday coming, with planned admission, fingers crossed, for SCT on either 10th or 16th April. The good news is that,if…[Read more]

  • Hi bridget

I have enjoyed the escapism too! I had read the bookd before, as my sister in law was a midwif around that time. The series is very true to the book.

I agree with you, it really brings home how life has changed. I loved it when the phone was grabbed out of the hand of the lady in the phone box because "it is an emergency!"…[Read more]

  • Hi Dai

What a lovely song. Hang onto it as you wait for your appoinment on 28th.

I had a blast from the past today. My brother is visitng and we were listening to Peter, Paul and Mary. Why do songs from the past often seem so much better?

    Keep singing!

    Love

    Hi David

Sorry to hear your not feeling too good. When Frank gets coughs or colds he takes Manuka honey. I read about it on the forum and did some research on it. Supposed tobe a natural anti biotic. It has worked for him, there are different strengths. Hope you feel better soon

    Hang in there Ros!

One day Rachaeel will come to her senses and realise she misses her Mum. I think sometimes daughters can't cope with their mother's grief and have a funny way of showing it. If they were fond of their Dads they somehow take their death out on their mums. I have seen it before.

  • Hi Min

I had missed your earlier post. I am so glad you are getting through even if you feel you are living life in slow motion! You are one brave lady and I am glad life is throwing some good things at you as well. Mind you, I can't imagine anyone being able to take five large dogs for a walk at once!!! We find our little yorkshire terrier…[Read more]

    Hi Zoe

So sorry you have had to join us especially as Dan is so young.

I like Dan like to read everything I can on MM. I find the Myelome Beacon (an American site) really helpful as they have threads to televised discussions between Drs on various approaches to treatment. In thsi country they aren't as keen on Allo transplants – I think…[Read more]

    Dear Nikki

Sorry about your Aunt. It sound as if she is having a dreadful time. I am sure they will get on top of her infection soon and she will be able to resume her treatment. They will no doubt also give her monthly infusions for her bones which should help prevent more problems.

Do you get on with her daughters? Maybe they could…[Read more]

Thanks Mavis and Bridget for your replies. Frank has had this pain on and off for months – a long time said at first it was a pulled muscle – actually Frank told them it was a pulled muscle!! It was just tonight he was very uncomfortable and he wanted Volareen rubbed in (doctor had given him a rub to put on and he was doing a war dance round the…[Read more]

Do hope the Dex has stopped messing your brain and that you get a good week-end.

Keep strong we love you. You know what they say, you can't keep a good woman down!

  • Hi Sarah

Do hope Henry's infection is under control and that nothing stops the SCT going ahead. I can understand how he feels about Hospital food – I always loose weight when in hospital. It is one of the bonuses for me!

Hope SCT leads to a very long remission.

    Best wishes.

Hi Jean poor Frank isnt having a good time bless him . Hi Jean

Sorry Frank has got shingles. He really could do with taking some pills because shingles can leave residual pain that can last forever. As it is shingles it is something he could talk to his GP about. they normally say your need to be treated within seven days. I do hope he isn't in too much pain and that he does get on top of it.…[Read more]

    Hi all

Franks consultant is now saying that the pain in his side is shingles. the MRI showed nothing different. She prescribed him Pregabalin-Lyrca 25mgs. When he took them they sent him do lally. He read the side affects on the internet and decided that he was not taking them. He spoke to the Myeloma nurse and the said she would pass…[Read more]

So sorry your mum now needs the extra treatment at her great age. At least she is having it by injection which I uinderstand reduces side effects. Do hope so. It must be a real worry for you, but there are good caring schemes to help. Make sure you speak to the hospital social worker if no one else is suggesting it.

  • Hi Terry

Like the others I wish you a successful harvest. And to think, I used to think harvest was about bringing apples and pears into church!

Hope you get enough for two SCT just for your comfort, but really hope that the first SCT, when it comes, will last for years!

    Best wishes.

    Mavis

  • Hi Sue

Glad to hear that at least your treatment has gone well. Do hope something turns up for Michael soon. In the mean time tell him to take all then rest he needs so that, when something comes, he will be up for it.

    Love to you both.
