  • Hi
Ive been on this forum for over 7 years but mainly contributed to the smouldering section.Suffice is to say that last year thing progressed and after a partial response to sequential ctd and vcd i underwent an autologous sct in early november .I subsequently had two complications worthy of discussion.
On day 30 ish I felt repeatedly very…[Read more]

  • Hi Rebecca,
I am about to describe my heart complications on the side effects thread but if your resting pulse is 50 it suggests your are very fit (do you run marathons perhaps??) and that there is no heart damage . I cant get me pulse below 80 yet altho things are improving and I have no cardiac symptoms but just feel unfit which is perhaps…[Read more]

  • Dear All,
    day 98 post asct
I am starting to feel better despite my first persistent cold but it has not been plain sailing but I will discuss this elsewhere on separate threads on side effects (skin and heart complications).
I have still only achieved a partial response ,albeit the sequential samples post asct have shown a fall in the m protein…[Read more]

    Hi Helen

I came home 2 weeks ago, after nearly 4 months away, enjoyed the travelling and the weather was very good,I nearly gave up in the first month as I found it very lonely, never realised couples in General Don,t speak to single women on their own!! A real eye opener, but after a month I did get use to it and began to realise I liked my own…[Read more]

    Hi Averil

After my operation and radiotherapy for a plasmacytoma I had a year without any treatment except tablets for bone strengthening. I then had a bad period and had six lots of CDT. I then had three years of nothing else but bone strengthening infusions. These only dis continued because my kidney function was deteriorating.

    I used to be…[Read more]

    Hi Phil

Great news. I read somewhere that the longer your remission, the longer your remission will be!! Do trust yours lasts and lasts.

Do enjoy every day you are given.

    Very best wishes.

    Mavis

  • jmsmyth replied to the topic Holiday or not? in the forum General 8 years, 9 months ago

Mag my hubby was diaganosed in 2006 with smouldering myeloma. Had SCT in March 2013 – thank God in remission. The only time we stopped holidaying was during SCT and for 3 months after. We have cruised and holidayed in Europe. We have a yearly policy with All Clear. Only place haven’t been back to is America as insurance is too high. We are also…[Read more]

Hi all and Happy New Year! Glad everyone is keeping okay. That’s great Dawn, a good response so long may that continue! Ten cycles seem a lot Ian, good that you are coping with it. How long can you stay on that? Nice for you to be treatment free Peter and good that the paraproteins are not causing any trouble. My paraproteins 2 months ago were…[Read more]

    Hi Alex

A bit late to respond to your post, but I don’t come on so often now. Wonder how your Dad is getting on? It’s quite possible he is in the ” wait and see” phase which can be even if he has bone lesions. Treatment is all based around readings of the blood tests. Do you have any readings for your Dad?

Hope all is as well as can be…[Read more]

Hi Compass ( do you have a name?!!)

Just caught up with all your posts. Welcome to the site from me. I’m rather an old stager now at over 5 years post diagnosis and currently in remission though I have lots of problems with bone pain and my kidneys are compromised.

You seem to be remarkably positive in spite of everything. I do find this…[Read more]
