Interesting thread as I’m facing exactly the same situation as you Brewy…they took me off Lenolidamide 2 cycles ago because of low platelets. They said they never fully recovered after the SCT, but having read Rabbit’s post, I wonder if they have always been low. I’ll now ask. Grateful Brewy if you could post any update you get after speaking to your Consultant.

Question for Rabbit…is the Dara injection intended to specifically counter the low platelets?

    Kind Regards,

It was a welcome relief in some respects to read your post and I don’t think it is out of place. Like you, early 50’s, lost my sex drive after being diagnosed with MM Feb 23 (complicated by associated kidney failure) then Stem Cell Transplant in Oct. Unfortunately, I don’t have any solutions out there but hopefully my posting might encourage others who might have the magic answer. I can’t work out if it is the MM, the kidney failure, the amount of medication or just psychological. Probably all of the above!

A really great thread, very informative so thank you all. I am pencilled in for SCT in Sep & meeting Consultant next week. Question to all on this Thread…with the benefit of hindsight, is there anything you would have discussed at this pre-SCT meeting that would have made the decision process and/or preparation for the SCT more comprehensive? Many thanks.

Dear Sue, thank you for such a comprehensive and informative reply – extremely useful in giving me more research to do and in focusing discussions with my Consultant. Your point about being a ‘statistic of 1’ is particularly poignant.

    Kind regards, Derek

Hi, thank you for the reply and what comes across as a relatively positive story about your dad which is heartening to hear for someone at the start of all this.

Not having chemo side effects or MM symptoms other than the kidneys makes it somewhat surreal as I said in my first post…just need to have some patience and see if the chemo has an effect.

    Thanks again.

    Kind regards.
