Hi Pat
Welcome to the forum from me too. Waiting seems to be a regular feature of coping with Myeloma. I do hope that, after this next week, you at least know whether you are coping with myeloma or not. You will then be advised about appropriate treatment. This is when, if it is myeloma, friends on here will really be able to help with…[Read more]

Hi Rach

Hi Dai
Sorry it seems to be one thing after another. Let's hope it has disappeared and not just doing that "dentist" type thing of, when you actually get there the tooth ache disappears!!
I just wish you a really clear run for a change so you can really enjoy the family without having to make back up plans.
All best wishes.

Dear Eve
I am so glad that Slim is making improvements at last. It has been a long haul for you both, but obviously worth it if you can now contemplate booking a holiday! I do hope your plans work out.
Here's to the future!
All best wishes to you both.

Hi Michele
Welcome to the Forum! Your experieinces will be valuable to others. Thank you for being willing to share.
I'm glad that your treatment has been successful. I do hope that this period of remission will be a very long one. As you say, it takes a while to realise, that a diagnosis of Myeloma isn't an instant death threat. I am…[Read more]

Hi Tina
Do hope you have a great holiday. All best wishes for your SCT. Do let us know how you get on.
You may remember that I am not going down the SCT route so have had six rounds of CDT. Just 13 days to go and i am finished. The treatment has worked its stuff and my bloods are normal, first time since diagnosis, and PP undetectable.…[Read more]

Hi Kevin
I am just finishing my first, successful CDT (six rounds!) Certainly, I concur with you, leave the bif stuff off for as long as possible, especially as first CDT obviously did good for you.
All best wishes. Let us know how you get on. I think it is so important that we run our treatment regime not our Consultants. Fortuately, I…[Read more]

Hi Paul
I haven't posted for a while either, but I am delighted to hear that, at last, you have made it to SCT. I do hope and pray all goes well and that it leads to a very long and healthy remission. Glad you got a break before the treatment.
All very best wishes.

Hi Mike
Like everyone else I am sorry you have had to join us, but take encouragement from us "oldies" that as diagnosis isn't the end of the world.
It is interesting that, at the moment, a lot of folk seem to be being diagnosed because of back problems. Do take care. I am glad your boss is being sympathetic, especially as the majority…[Read more]

Hi And
Sorry things aren't moving on treatment wise. We will all keep our fingers crossed that the professor can come up with something.
One thing occurs to me. You say you are still having back pain. Have you seen the pain specialist? Maybe you need a higher daily dose of morphine. Here they take the line that you shouldn't have pain…[Read more]

Hi Aleathea
Welcome from me too. What a blow for you and your Mum both to be diagnosed with cancer. Life isn't fair, is it. No wonder you have had times of feeling depressed.
As you are on route to SCT I presume you are quite young! That's hard to cope with too, but at least, as others will confirm, you are hopefully on the way to a long…[Read more]

Dear Tina
Most good firms would offer a phased return to work. Haven't you been offered that? If not, and you feel you must go back now, if it proves too much for you, ask about it. Haven't you got a Union rep?
Thinking of you at this difficult time. At least it is good that you have had a good responnse to the treatment. Like everyone…[Read more]

Hi all!
Having got over a five day hospitalisation for an infection I had some good news when I went to collect my fifth regime of CDT. My PP are undetectable! I couldn't believe it! I am hoping they stay the same. I am having another PP test next time. The sixth round will be my last so I am hoping then for a long remission. I certainly…[Read more]

Dear Helen
So sorry you have had another set back. Having just had one of those infections myself I sympathise with your frustration. You wonder where they come from, don't you.
Do hope you are soon feeling better, but maybe you aren't meant to return to work yet!
Much love.
