I have had 8 injections of Velcade and start my 3rd course tomorrow. I had a very dicky start and have had a cold since January and am now on my 3rd course of antibiotics. I also take Dex and has your doc given Peter anti- viral tabs I have been taking these from the start.I have found that I have a temperature either the night of the Velcade or the next night. I am always tired and find I need regular naps. Watch out also for the pn in your fingertips.

Hiya

Thanks all.I did start having the dreaded PN , very odd feeling-difficult to explain my hands felt things as hot whilst my arm would feel it as cold and tingling in the tips of my fingers. I had 4 velcades in the first two weeks and had a week off and then they reduced it to one a week and this week will be my 4th of this session. I don't know yet what date the 2nd sct will be to be honest I dread it and if I could stay on some sort of maintenance program with the Velcade I think I would rather that. We'll see what the docs decide.

I find it useful when I am going out where there are lots of people or especially when I fly I spray cold defense spray up my nose(I buy Boots make but there is probably other makes out there). It seems to work for me and on the one time I forgot I caught a cold so maybe its worth trying.

I also relapsed in January, my sct lasted nearly 2 years. I am now on Velcade and dex. I had 2 injections x 2 weeks and am now on a 1 week break. I had a high temp 38.7 on the 2nd injection and was admitted to hospital. I have had bad constipation had to take meds and then had the reverse last weekend with added sickness(losing 7lb). I now have a strange sensation in my hands and feet and they have reduced me down to one treatment this week. I think I have been unlucky and hopefully now things have settled down.The consultant thinks highly of this treatment I will find out thurs if it has started to attack my myeloma. Good luck on your journey and let us know if you have any side effects.

Thankyou all for replying. I had the dex two weeks ago and my voice still hasn't come back to normal.I restart the damn stuff on Monday again. At least Gayle will be happy as I wont be able to speak to moan!!!

Hiya all
So glad your trip to India is still on. Thanks to you all for your good wishes. I have had four velcade's in the past two weeks and I am finding it really hard. I had an overnight stay in a& e last Sunday(no beds slept on a trolley!!!!) as temp 38.7. Had another one yesterday and temp rising again. I have been sick and have terrible consipation.I cant remember feeling this bad on the CDT. I am soooo tired. Well enough about me moaning.

I have started Velade and Dex today but like you Dai the old way with the canula my hospital doesnt do it yet with the injection in the stomach/side. I had 6 courses of CDT originally took poorly on the 2nd course and had pneumonia so I must admit to be a bit nervy this time round. I have a cold and cough already so that worries me. I will watch and wait for the tingling in my fingers or the ringing in my ears.

That's my way of thinking too with the second sct and I dont know whether I really want to go through another.I feel like you fed up that my transplant didnt last long and what the future holds for me. I was hoping to go to Canada this year but there will be no way now. Your holiday is in March so you should be able to make it. When I went down the hospital where I had my sct last week the doctor said like it was the norm – have the velcade knock it back and when figures are low another sct. I started the velcade and dex today as the doc was keen to start today as my figures are going mad and as long as I can tolerate it another dose Thursday. I've had antibiotics for my cold ,antivirals and other tabs so I will be jangling.
