    Dear Dai

Thank you for your reply. Stephen had shingles a little while ago and was in great pain so I am sorry to hear that Bridget is suffering with it and having it effect your eyes must be horrendous. When Stephen was told by one of his chemo nurses that some people get it in their eyes he felt very lucky that it was only down one leg and…[Read more]

    Dear Carol,

I too lost my dear husband of 34 yrs to Myeloma, 12 months ago. "Will this pain ever go?" I personally agree with David, the pain for somemone you have loved and lost never goes away. Whilst I am now able to talk about Patrick without immediately breaking out in tears the pain I feel seems to have found a place in me to hide…[Read more]

    Hi Sue,

So good to hear from you I have been wondering how Michael was doing, I'm so sorry he has been unwell and in hospital – so very draining for you both.
You have no doubt been by Michael's side throughout all his treatments and procedures which from my own experience comforted me as I always wanted to be around if something were to go…[Read more]

    Thanks and apologies

Thank you all for your good wishes and sorry for my bad language.

I very rarely use those words (never anything worse) but when angry enough well— you saw the sort of thing I burst out with and believe me I am so so angry. This illness is such a horrid insidious thing. It does bring out anger.

    Thank you to the…[Read more]

    Dear Gill,

So sorry to hear the Revlimid failed. Has Stephen been treated with bendamustine or Pomalidomide? Patrick survived almost another two years after the failure of Revlimid on these drugs and the consultant was amazed.

Like Mari, I feel you should do what makes you both happy if that means travelling to France then get going and…[Read more]

Well what can I say? the 50% chance of surving the rest of this year has now reduced to £30%.

Not much more to try. Stephen went to see the oncologist on his own last night for the first time ever (I have always gone with him) He has become very bad tempered and refused to let me go with him.

I suppose I can understand the bad temper (and…[Read more]

I have not been on here for a while as we were away and Stephen (mm person ) was not very well.

I was concerned not to see Bridget on here.

I do hope you are feeling a little better Bridget. Do post if you can and I think I speak for all of us when I say we are thinking of you.

    Much love Gill xxxx

Gosh such memories SCT, Prof. Schey, Davidson ward, limited allowable foods (a great many eggs hard boiled for 10 minutes, salad cream and a few other bits) Always a daily paper.

We are not too far from Kings (we live in Orpington Kent) but still a darned long walk from Denmark Hill station to Kings.

Good luck to everybody with SCTs coming…[Read more]

    Hi Dai,

Amatriptyline is a widely used drug and has many uses. I suffered very badly with muscle and nerve pain and was given amatriptyline many years ago as a muscle relaxant. Patrick used it in a low dose when he had trouble sleeping and it really helped.
Patrick was also on 185 mg of SR morphine a day backed up with Oramorph, I never…[Read more]
