    Hi Jean

Thanks for pointing that out, the new anti-spam software is performing much better than the previous version but a few things still slip by. If you spot any more please let me know.

The issue with editing posts on the iPad is still present. I am getting hold of an iPad in the office today so hopefully I will be able to experience what is going wrong for myself and find a fix as soon as possible.

    Regards
    Stuart

    Hi Folks

In order to update your profile picture click “Your account” underneath your username at the top of the page. There is then a link that says “Change Avatar”. Click that and upload a new image. Avatar is just the standard web term for your profile picture. For those who are interested:

    Hope that helps

    Hi Angela

Can you try holding down the CTRL key and pressing F5 on your keyboard. This will force your computer to refresh the website.

    Thanks

Hi Jean. You’re not doing anything wrong. There is a problem with the website when it’s used on an iPad. We will get this fixed, it’s just taking longer than I would like.

    Hi Folks

The website has now been updated so it resizes the profile pictures correctly for the forum. Unfortunately I can’t tell who has recently updated their picture and who hasn’t so I don’t want to overwrite everyone’s picture with the version from the old site.

This means it’s a great opportunity for you to update your profile picture for the New Year!

Or you can let me know and I’ll find your old one and update it manually for you.

Sorry again about the problems. I’m working through them as quickly as I can.

    Regards
    Stuart

    Hi Everyone

For those having trouble with the Edit function. There are 2 tabs on the edit box, one says “Visual” and the other “Text”. It seems the iPad is defaulting to “Text” which is causing a problem. I’m looking into getting this changed to default to “Visual”. In the meantime you should be able to see the text by changing to the “Visual” tab. This should be fixed shortly.

    Hi Jean

Well that’s something. Can you try editing your post and see if you get the problem where you can’t see the text you are trying to edit please?

    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Helen

I’m really sorry to hear you’re not having a good experience with the new website. I will be fixing the issue with fuzzy photos and “participant” very shortly but it’s the fact that you are being forced to change your password each time that concerns me most, as well as the scrolling problem. I’m trying to get my hands on an iPad at the moment so I can recreate the problems everyone is having and get them fixed.

    Regards

    Hi Folks

For those of you using an iPad can you tell me what version of the operating software you are using please?

This can be found from the iPad settings menu by choosing ‘General’ and ‘About’ this will list various info, amongst this is the version no. – on the one I have borrowed it says 7.0.3 (11B511)

This information will help me work out what is going on.

    Regards

    Stuart

    Hi John

Your profile info can be found by clicking “Your Account” underneath your username at the top of the page. You can then click “Edit” to change your description.

There are two problems I’m aware of that I’m trying to fix asap.

    1) The text in the edit box on an iPad is missing (I think it’s actually white text on a white background)
    2) The avatar upload will not accept jpegs which is crazy as it’s the most common format for photographs. FIXED

Please bear with me while I get these issues sorted out and let me know of any other issues that you come across.

    Regards
    Stuart

For those experiencing difficulties with the right hand side of forum posts being cropped that issue should be resolved now

    Hi Andy / Jean

There is a time limit set for how long a message can be edited. This is set by default to 1 hour. I’ve increased it to 5 days which should give everyone plenty of time.

I’ve also removed a couple of things that are designed to speed up page loading which I think have been causing a few issues with people appearing to be signed out until the page was refreshed.

Andy – I managed to get hold of an iPad over Christmas and I’ve seen the issue when editing a post. It seems like the text is there but it’s white text on a white background! I’ll look into getting that changed as soon as possible.

    Regards

    Hi

For those of you missing the right hand end of the discussion posts it seems there is an issue with Internet Explorer 8. I will get this fixed when I return to work in the New Year. Apologies for the inconvenience.

    Hi Tony
Could you send me a screen capture of what you are seeing please. This would really help me diagnose the issue.
