    Hi Everyone

Well as you know Slim is now coming up to 2 months past SCT.
He has at last turned the corner, last week I was wondering when we could see an improvement, and he is starting to pick up.

We went to see his consultant and he has taken just a bit longer to improve,Platelets still at 50 but going up all the time now,he said its because of all the chemo over a year, plus pneumonia.he has BMB middle of next month and we will know by the end of August, then see if he gets maintenance or not,on trials.

What I was not told or realised is because the body system is so low,any other problems a person has tend to show, and cause aches and pains,so you mind set is,is this the Myeloma when its just, aches and pains from old or new things that are now causing problems with your body.
    Another learning curve coming on.:-P

I am even thinking of booking a holiday,so things are looking up,September is going to be a wonderful month,in many ways. Love Eve

    Hi Eve,

Two months already… it may seem slow to you but I think time is flying.

Slim's whole system has had a reboot and kickstart and he is bound to develop aches and pains… some old, some new but there will be other changes as well. My hair (what I have left) went back to the tight curls of my youth and twenties… I was having problems with my eyesight and found that my eyesight had improved to a point nine years ago!!! 😀

I am sure that Slim's platelets will soon start moving up and he will start to look and more importantly feel, much better and more like his own self. It works at different paces for different people but it took me about nine to ten months before I could say that I was fully comfortable with my 'new' self.8-)

Enjoy your holiday… book it and go.:-)

    Dai.

    Hi Eve and Slim

Great to hear you are turning the corner Slim 😀
I had things that felt like MM but was told all clear its just an old/new ache so I got on with it but still nip off to Doc's when I feel different 😀

Have a great Time looking and Booking your Holls.

    Hi Gina
Lovely to hear from you,I hope you are enjoying life, know you must be missing mum, first year the hardest.

As for Slim feeling lucky that we have got this far,has had to up his pain killers but better to have some quality of life, than be constantly feeling bones aches and pains.the damage plus other complaints coming to the fore.

End of August and we should have some idea,:-) love Eve

    Dear Eve

I am so glad that Slim is making improvements at last. It has been a long haul for you both, but obviously worth it if you can now contemplate booking a holiday! I do hope your plans work out.

    Here's to the future!

All best wishes to you both.

    Hi Everyone

Well Slims getting there,as he improves I worry less, will be happy once he has BMB and results as we have been told this is now the only way to tell how the myeloma is in the bones:-P so it will always be a bit of a worry.

He has his line out on Monday and Wednesday it,s up to London never ending'

We thought once the 2 days for blood test was finished,we would have a bit more freedom, but August is filling up with lots of medical appointments,Slims general health has taken a dive with having SCT this I did not expect, but its because his system is not functioning fully,he has had to up his pain relieve to function,
London on Wednesday, going by train,if he is up to it,otherwise I will be driving in.Eve;-)

Am pleased to read Slim is getting better, and trust me you never stop the worry when you have been told you have MM Eve its something that we all have to cope with these days.
Slim will be better when the line is removed less to get infected so thats good 😎

Hope Slim is up to going on the train to London as it will make it easier for you wont it.

    Love to you both

    Morning Eve,

so glad to hear that Slim is on the up now after his SCT. Like Dai I feel that two months is not really all that long and it does take time for the body to recover from such a huge shock as an SCT.

I throughly recommend the holiday when you can get away. Steve's platelets were at 50 when we left, as you know it was touch and go if he could fly but they did give permission at this level. His haemoglobin and red blood cell counts were also very low, below 10, and he felt very washed out in the first week. Added to this his hair was coming out in clumps after the cyclophosphamide, I wished we had taken his razor to just take it all off. We did a great deal of sitting around, reading books, in that week. However by the second week he felt so much better and started to swim, gaining strength every day. He has gone into work today but he will be in Kings on Wednesday for some of the work up for his SCT. Maybe he will see you there, although I know he has appointments all over the hospital, heart kidneys etc. I wont be with him as I have to go up to see my Dad in North Wales as he is not at all well,

    Good luck, love Mari x
