Had a lovely day for my 60th on Sunday. My son and daughter and the two granddaughters stayed on Saturday night. Had a few glasses of pink champagne ourtesy of my friend Margaret. My son got up at 6am and baked a cake for me. (you should have seen the mess). Got quite emotional and had a good cry.

Lunch was delicious and the staff were exceptionally good, opening doors for Ian etc. Kept Ian out of hospital longer than expected but we had a good day with friends and family. Got lots of cards and lovely presents.

    Hi Maureen,

    Congratulations,

Everything sounds great, especially your son's cake (if not the aftermath). I am so glad that Ian was well enough to join you (although I imagine it would have taken a full squad of beefy nurses to stop him getting out) but the fact that he stayed longer than arranged showed he enjoyed the party as much as anyone given his circumstances.8-)

It was your day though and I am so glad you enjoyed it… even allowing yourself the rare treat of getting 'quite emotional' in public, albeit your family and friends.:-)

Best wishes for a much better year ahead.:-D

    Hi Maureen

Happy Birthday to you,it was lovely for your family to come over, not a bad thing to be emotional, helps the body stay calm, instead of a lot of anger.I find a few tears help at times,

Well my girl how does it feel to be sixty,I found it very liberating, there is a saying, you are as old as you feel,my advice wake up feeling 21 again, even if the body says different.
Good to know you enjoyed your day.Love Eve

    Hi all

Thanks for your good wishes. I still have the mind of a 21 year old but can't bend down in the morning when I get out of bed. Got to apply for my bus pass now. Nurses thought I was 50 not 60 so must be doing something right. Granddaughters keep me fit and I love them to bits.

Eava hope you had a lovley holiday and things are improving for you.

    Hi Jo

Thanks for you best wishes. I did plan to go to Wimbledon for my 60th but alas it wasn't to be.

Ian is progressing well but light chains have risen to 210. If they continue to rise he will be back on CDT. As he isn't going to have a SCT I asked about Rivlimid maintenance but was told it would be the next treatment. As you haven't had a SCT I would be interested to know what treatments you have had.

    Hi Jo

Ian had light chains down to 52 and he didn't complete the full cycle of CDT as they stopped it to let his bed sore heal. See consultant on Monday to see if light chains have risen again. How many cycles of CDT did you have?

Hope Andy Murray wins this year. I'm a big fan.

    Helloo Maureen

I took the thalidomide every day 100mgs until my feet went red hot and it was stopped if i have it next time it will be 50mgs a day did you watch andy murry marvellous match. I too have light chains but i only get them measured once every three months at UCLH as my hospital will not pay for the test
