    Hi Tony

    Hi Everyone

Thanks so much for your replies. Makes me feel that I have to change my whole way of life and continuously clean. Don't know what to do about the dogs. Has anyone else got animals? They are so germy!!!
I suppose we just have to get on with it and cope.

Is it best that Charlie has a room alone after Stem Cell? If so, I must arrange it all.

thanks so much for your help.

    Love Charlie & Mary x x:-P

Evening Stanstan, next appointment with the haematology specialist is on 9th May. Not sure what they will tell me, I wonder if its too soon after the stem cell transplant, that was done on 2nd February. It is good not being on any medication!

    Hi Charlie and Mary

Aww bless you Mary I feel you are being overwhelmed by this cleaning lark !!
Yes I had. An African Grey Parrot and trust me they are dirty dusty birds and we have a dog, we coped as you two will, it's just same as keeping a new baby's feeding bottles sterile and clean.
As for Charlie's other room well I slept in another room for a fair few nights but that was because I found it hard to sleep.
It will all work out in the end so relax it will be fine.

    Love to you both

    Hi Tom

Did you just keep the animals away? I am the most undomesticated person, I shall have to practice.

A whole new way of life!!!

    Love Charlie & Mary 😛

    Hi Charlie and Mary

No I didn't keep them away from me but to be fair Elaine (the young bride) had to clean Sam the parrots cage out for me, but I still had a wee cuddle from Charlie our Yorkie 😎

Elaine and I are not what people call domesticated to be fair might be that's why I have done so well Lol.

Am Sure its going to be fine

Hi, we have a very lively border collie, I think that it is the dog that has kept me going through the whole process. As Tom said don't get overwhelmed by cleaning everything, just be sensible, I carry on just as I used to with dog, just wash my hands after stroking him, like me he's very confused by everything. I've gone back to walking him everyday across our local fields, good for me and he loves it!
Still sleeping in separate rooms simply because I get quite restless, sleep well but move about a lot.
Try not to stress too much, I'm sure it will all be fine.

    Mary and Charlie,

Relax!!! Just be thorough with cleaning like normal but taking care of handles and surfaces as they are where bugs get transmitted most. Neutrophils are the immune system getting stronger and normally hospitals say 0.5 and patient can go home. It's just like when you are having treatment, the neutrophils go up and down. When they are lower you stand more chance of picking something up so if food was after sell by date, bad egg or some thing you stand more chance of food positioning, hence just being careful.

You asked how to cope, you just do but is bloody hard, no two ways about it…..but you can do it 🙂

Hi Charlie and Mary…Neutrophils are the part of the blood that protects you from infection and nasty bugs…usual reading should be between 2-7…mine have peaked at 1.83 and lowed at 0.88…if they sink under 1.0 you are declared as being Neutropenic ( susceptible to infections etc) and I take a more cautious attitude to personal hygiene ( as Vicki says earlier in this post )I am doing well thank you ( fatigue and tiredness still an issue) …I had my SCT in Jan 2010 and am in Stringent Complete Remission…I see my consultant every month as part of the Myeloma x1 trial so my bloods are regularly monitored…I have a new lead for my laptop so no more ipaddy thingymibob…gotta have fingers of a 5 year old to work it…stay safe…Phil

    Hi Phil
We asked the consultant the other day and Charlie is 2.4. Is that good?
Glad you have the new lead much easier than ipad. Wish we were in remission – fingers crossed.

Trying to relax. The doctor gave me pills but I am not taking them.
Can't wait for cleaning etc. Charlie's Neutrophils are 2.4 at the moment and paras are 13.4 – Nightmare. I shall practice cleaning before he goes in hospital in July. I am trying to arrange a separate room downstairs he can stay in. Upwards & Onwards!!!

    Hi Tony

Thanks, it is great to know that I won't have to keep the dogs away totally. Can't wait until it is all over. Are you in remission?
