    Hi Everyone

I was watching a program to day ,about change of circumstances when you are on any form of benefit .

Later just be chance I went through old mail to get rid of some,I found a letter that said if any one has a SCT the have to inform the benefit people.the TV program was about a women who had not informed them of some change and she was taken t court and pleaded guilty.

So first thing tomorrow I will be on the phone,so anyone out there beware.
I would have missed it completely so look at any old mail you have recieved from pension people or benefits. Love Eve

    Hi Babs

Slim had a letter ages ago just a general letter from pensions office,he gets attendance allowance ,right in the middle of the letter it actually says you must inform them if you have a SCT or any other change. I am glad I looked through mail, what I do is quickly look at things, keep them, then when I have a pile if I am going to keep things for filing or throwing away..

It could be so easily missed,I think this post arrived, and I just thought its another letter from pensions,I do not read them normally just look at how many extra pennies they are going to give us. Love Eve

    Hello Eve
Can you remeber what the programme was called or which tv channel it was on?
What is the reason you have to inform them for?
Will look through our back post too for said info.Think i will need to inform also cos Peter has SCT too

    Hi Trish
The program was Saints and Scrounges I tend to have the TV on rather than the radio as I am deaf so need subtitles,I was not paying a great deal of attention I do not know what the lady claimed but she was showing dogs and they filmed her,she had said she could not walk more than 50 yards without pain, and her answer was she had dosed her self up,so she could stand for 80 min,but they made the point that she had not informed them went to court pleaded guilty and had to pay back money and of cause she had a criminal conviction

I think if you inform them they send you another form to fill in,it does one mean you will loose any money, but you have to inform them, although Slim has had a SCT,he is in pain with the damage to the bones, plus hip replacement was never successful ,if he wakes in the night it is easier for me to get up to get meds, plus I hate him walking about in the dark in case he falls,

My form went in for attendance allowance and we stated that he had Myeloma. Hope this helps Eve

    Hi Eve,
I have a good friend who had a kidney transplant and her DLA stopped after the transplant because she was then deemed to be able to manage again as no longer having to have dialisis, also amputees loose it after getting a replacement limb, our STC does not do the same for us, most of MM sufferers who receive DLA get it due to the bone damage caused by our condition and this will not change no matter how many SCT's we have!!!!.
The point they made on the programme was that the woman walked about for 80 minutes, also sometimes dragging a large suitcase on wheels and walking her large dog even though she said she was dosed up on painkillers she was filmed walking perfectly normally, even walking "AT EASE" up and down stairs, they were paying her her DLA because she had said she could not walk a mere 50 yards they said. She had not told them that taking strong medication enabled her to do these things.
I am sure Slim and many of our fellow sufferers would love taking strong painkillers to enable us to walk around crufts pulling a large suitcase and walking a large dog but sadly it would not make that much difference to us.
I have checked my paperwork and it mentions transplants but not specifically SCT, I would argue that although it is called a transplant it is not the same as having a useless kidney replaced with a good one and allowing life after dialasis!
Perhaps there is someone here on this site that can advise us all on this point as It is bad enough having to get used to being diagnosed with terminal cancer, receiving benefits and managing on the small amount they pay but now we are all worried about getting criminal records and having our benefits reduced !
    Love Babs
