Hi All,
Janet went out on baby-sitting duties at 6.30 on Saturday… she left me feeling fine and in good spirits. She returned at 11.30pm and couldn't get any sense out of me… so she phoned the duty Doctor and the ambulance arrived within 15 minutes. I was really out of it… my temperature was 40.2 so I couldn't answer either the paramedics or the Doctor in the assessment unit with any sort of coherency.:-P
They got my temperature down to normal by Sunday afternoon and it has stayed normal ever since. I was transferred to the specialist Haematology Ward (Fletcher Ward) with all the comforts of a single room. 🙂
The bug was still working though and it kick started my C: Diff along with a hacking cough and all that it brings up.:-(
As of this morning my C: Diff is back under control thanks to the wonderful Vancomycin and my cough has ceased. They have my on a Nebuliser (only 10 minutes a go) 4 times a day at that has helped enormously. 😎
I spoke with my regular consultant this afternoon and she says that they are getting top-side of things now and the plan is to keep on the 4 times a day IV Anti-Biotic until Thursday night (Giving a 5 day course) a couple of bags of blood and then, all being well, home on Friday.:-D
She can start me on Bendamustine on Friday (should have been Monday but she doesn't want to ruin my Birthday (Xmas Eve) or Christmas Day) so I will start the new treatment on the Friday after Xmas which is fine by me.8-)
We have a plan… I am happy with it and touch wood (I just did) I will be home for the lead up to Xmas which I love. 🙂
I am beginning to feel much better and I am happy with the plan so that is that for now.
Much love to all. 😀
Dai.

Really hope you have a good birthday and Christmas Dai and continue to improve. Love Helen
Hello Dai
Hope you get out of hospital before the weekend as I'm sure you will. I was admitted early hours Sat Morning with a temperature of 39.1 and a very high pulse rate. I got out today Tuesday and pleased to be home. I've posted the details on general and it was Sepsis that was causing the problem. This had been a long time in coming with Neuts under 1.0 since the end of my Revlimid treatment never really getting much above 1.5 for a long time before that. I was supposed to start the second cycle of Bendamustine but had to be postponed because of the condition of my bone marrow. Antibiotics,Blood,Platelet transfusions and filgastim injections were all used to get things under control. You also keep getting hit like me and it is annoying and this has to be about the worst experience I've had to date. I just go from one setback to another with very little respite. I'm trying to get a holiday far away for some sunshine but I can't get a window of decent health to do it,but maybe next year I will fingers crossed. My body has been battered with so many different drugs for so long and with little rest it's now telling me enough is enough and there's a marked difference between how I used to be after my first SCT and how I am now,a lot less resilient and finding it hard to fight infections maybe, but the one thing that has not diminished and that's my iron will and determination to beat this thing. As long as the mind stays strong then you're in with a chance. I hope you get sorted soon and the Bendamustine does the business for you. Keep fighting it Dai as I know you and I both will.
Take care Dai/Janet you both deserve a break from this horrible disease and let's hope we all get one very soon.
Keith.
Hi Dai.
That C.diff is really hanging around causing you problems. Really glad that your starting to feel better. Glad that you can start the bendamustine after Christmas and your birthday. Hopefully you'll be home in time to enjoy Christmas, I was discharged last Xmas eve, and your birthday.
Take care Dai.
All the best to you and Janet
Andy & Steph
Dear Dai
I do hope you are on the up now, ready for the discharge on Friday and ready to enjoy the festivities.
Much Love Ali xx
Hi All,
Thank you all for your messages of support… I'll try to answer some of the points raised over the week-end. 🙂
I'm sitting up in bed watching re-runs of Top Gear on Dave waiting for Janet to arrive with my going home clothes. I've been through the discharge process, got all my meds and I am free to leave when my 'True-Love' TM arrives. 😎
It's now 12:06 – Top Gear is numbing my mind which is useful because otherwise I'd be crawling on the ceiling. In this awful weather and with all the Xmas traveling to contend with I want my 'True-Love' TM to drive carefully… but Top Gear is showing speeding cars ad-nauseum and I am imagining my 'True-Love' TM drifting side-ways around corners at 80 miles per hour to get to me soonest.;-)
Never mind… home soon.:-D 😎
Dai.
