I notice from my first 'Fed Up' post that I had my stomach infection at the beginning of July (although it had started at the end of June). After negotiations between my GP and the hospital I was given anti-biotics which cleared it up…. for a fortnight… then I had to go in to the hospital for tests and a stronger set of A/I's.

My son, daughter-in-law and grandson were up for six days last week, staying with his sister Becky, about 20 miles from us. We spent a couple of very nice days together including an excellent afternoon BBQ party on Saturday and on Sunday they all came to us for lunch before splitting up for home to Mansfield and Kent. I fought a temperature all day, (38 or just under) feeling grotty and although my appetite was fine I dared not have much of Janet's lovely roast lunch. Eventually I took a couple of paracetamol and my temperature returned to normal and stayed there until 9.30 am Monday.:-|

I hit 38.0 5 times during the day but each time it ducked under again until late afternoon when it stayed on 38.01 for 3 readings over an hour and a half. I phoned in for advice and was told to monitor it for another couple of hours… and to take a couple of paracetamol if my temperature dropped below 38 of its own accord… if not I was to ring in and make arrangements to be seen. (i.e. it was near the end of their shift and a couple of hours grace would mean being seen and treated up on the ward). Of course it dropped to 37.8… so I took 2 paracetamol at 7pm and my temperature returned to normal within an hour and has stayed there.:-/

I obviously have some sort of stomach bug that needs to be sorted so I will contact my GP tomorrow… I'm just fed up with yo-yoing temperatures, grumbling stomachs and all that that entails.:-P

Hopefully it will clear up of its own accord with a little help from me by way of starving the fever and drowning any bugs in gallons of water. I don't want to go down the road of bigger, faster, stronger anti-biotics if I can help it.:-0

Well I hope they sort you out Dia. It must be really debilitating.

I am having one of my rare, nowadays anyway, sleepless nights; I had a kip early on this afternoon which is unusual for me nowadays as I am always so busy. So I think that is the culprit.

Anyway, chin up buddy I am sure you can beat this, you have everything else that has been thrown at you.

    Kindest regards ? VASBYTE

    Hello Dia

sorry you are still not feeling to well when i had the bad stomach bug last year it turned out to be compilabacter my consultant got me to take a stool sample to the lab so they identify which bug it was as some bugs only respond to certain anti b's this may be the case with you
    Hope you feel better soon

Thanks for listening to my gripes and responding David & Jo.:-D

This current Boomerang/Yo-Yo complaint started at the end of June and is still here… we worked it out that of the pat 36 days I have had 8 days that I could call my own… free from gripes and associated grumbles… it's wearing, that's all.:-/

You may well be right Jo… the Doctor at the Day Case mentioned this as a possibility the last time I was in.. but I was unable to produce a sample before home time. (I would have been fine 20 minutes earlier but there you go).

We have Alfie all day today so I have taken 2 paracetamol when my temp was 37.3… but if it starts climbing again we will not bother ringing in we will just turn up bright and early at the day Case tomorrow AM and ask for it to be sorted.8-)

I mean… the Olympics are on and I'm missing some good stuff while visiting the White Bowl Stadium!!!;-)

I realise that there are people in a far worse state than me… but I just wanted it off my chest.

    That's all.:-)

Thank you Tom & Gina, much appreciated.:-)

Not to worry Gina… this is common and garden side effects… more a result of my medication than MM so while I am complaining I'm still on my treatment. This time something seems to have taken up residence in my gut and needs a specific anti-biotic to clear it up. 😎

I am sure the medics will find it but in the meantime I am in the grip of a little bug that is dominating my summer… no bug and I would be having a great time. 😉

    Take care.

Sorry to hear of your ongoing sufferings Dai. Life sure is not easy. If its any consolation, I have a terrible cold and have not had the strength to get out of bed for a couple of days. I'm up now, but as weak as a kitten.

Lets hope things pick up for us.

    Hi Dai

This is a roller coaster ride for you, feeling better on Myeloma Drugs, yet having problems with pesky bugs.I think you feel it more when you have been having a better quality of life, and something like this starts.
I know no one wants to take more tablets, but maybe antibiotics long term might be the answer:-(
I hope they sought you out soon,so you can enjoy this thing we call summer.Eve

    Ummm…

I had the alarm set for 7am to ensure we were up and at the Day Case by 8.30am.

I fell asleep approx: 10.30pm. I woke at 1.15am with really bad stomach gripes. I tried to ease the pain by stretching and eventually the pain subsided but left me with the usual sore tummy. I stayed awake until 6am ish.:-(

Here's the Ummm bit. My temperature started to creep up yesterday evening so I took 2 paracetamol at 6pm. I took my temp during my 'gripes' but it was normal… and it has stayed normal ever since. The alarm went off at 7am but I had a dilemma.:-|

My stomach pains had disappeared… even my sore tum had almost disappeared. I had breakfast to force the issue but everything remained normal.8-)

So here I am at 3pm… feeling fine, no gripes, no temperature… nothing to report. So it's wait and see… I can't go into the Day Case with no symptoms… and this is the best I have felt for 2 weeks.:-D

Go, as our American friends might say, figure.:-)

    Hi Dai

Sorry it seems to be one thing after another. Let's hope it has disappeared and not just doing that "dentist" type thing of, when you actually get there the tooth ache disappears!!

I just wish you a really clear run for a change so you can really enjoy the family without having to make back up plans.

    All best wishes.
