Tomorrow, the 20th of October at 2pm, I shall escort my eldest daughter Rebecca (Becky to the world, Boo to me).
I have been inordinately good this week, giving my right DVT ridden leg, complete elevated rest in bed and on my adjustable chair in the lounge. Janet drove me to 20 odd miles to Mansfield for a two hour visit to Becky's house on Wednesday afternoon… to meet and greet the gathering of the clan.
My son Ross, his wife Kelly (five months pregnant with our second Grandson) our first Owen now a 2.5 year old bundle of loving energy. Amy and her fiancΓ© Ludo (Ludovic) from Slovakia, her partner and playing partner that keeps them travelling in the warmer climes, performing in excellent hotels for summer (Barcelona the last time) and winter seasons) Now home for 3 weeks and then over to Majorca for a 2 week rehearsal with two other musicians/vocalists before taking off to Cape Verdi with an ABBA Tribute show for the winter season. π
Amy has stead with us for a couple of nights which was wonderful – all chilled and intimate. She knows the score and has had deep reservations about Cape Verdi because it takes her the furthest away she has been in the last 4 years… it's not only the distance and the 6 hour flight but the frequency of flights home which can be a bit haphazard. we both made the decision for her to wrk abroad during my illness, it was/is a great opportunity and a great adventure and I wanted her to enjoy the experience to the full… and she has. Skype makes it much easier and her new thin Mac laptop goes anywhere and everywhere, so I get to see everything… including the topless beach.:-0 She has told me that she is seriously considering spending next summer in the UK, taking the ABBA tribute band around the UK. With no false modesty Amy has seen several of these popular ABBA tribute bands and she says that her and Ludo's are a class above anything she has seen… both live and on showreels. So I could (will) have her close for the 7 month summer season… living with either Becky or her Mum when she is at home (at least a couple of nights in the close season (March through June) and 1 night a week (July through September)… the season will close at the end of October… after that, who knows.:-|
Unfortunately Becky's wonderful fiancΓ© Liz was at work on a 'sleep over' (she is a senior carer at a small care home for the young mentally disabled) so we won't see her now until Saturday.:-(
The extended clan arrives tonight from places various… Swindon, London, Hereford, Manchester, Sheffield and Bristol… so I am expecting to be inundated by phone calls anytime soon.8-)
I have a 100 Yard walk from Becky's house to the County Hall and then a ten minute sit down/rest while Becky has her 'interview' with the Registrar. The comes the formal part with a short 30 Yard escort down the 'Aisle'. The official photo's will take part in the lovely grounds outside the Hall and then it's a 2 mile drive to the 'Towers' function room for the formalities of meals and speeches… I have a short speech followed by a poem written for the occasion. You will have the dubious honour of being the first to read this (apart from Janet) in the following post.;-)
Dai… Excited and as ready as I can be given the circumstances. I plan to thoroughly enjoy the day, despite the full morning coat, complete with silver waistcoat and dark pinstripe tails (they do look rather good though
