Hi Helen,
Thanks for the information. That's good to know. It's so hard because we were dreading the SCT and now they can get the stems cells we are willing them on! It is a very individual condition which we should know but now;it's just all the twists and turns that can catch you out!
Hope you are keeping well,

Hi Charlie,
My partner colinn was diagnosed with mm, age 55, a complete bolt out of the blue shock. He was given the option of myeloma X1 trial. We don't know what the treatment would be like outside of the trial because we elected for the trial. On it we have found it to be hard but the treatment and support received second to none. He got…[Read more]

Hi Tom, Keith, eve and Ali,
First of all Ali, hope all goes well for your mum 1st august onwards.:-) And again thanks for all good wishes!
It has been a very disappointing day :'-( . The harvest did not go ahead. The number in colins blood count was 5, when it should be 10. We have been asked to go back tomorrow for another go. Colin said my…[Read more]

Thanks Helen,
All going well so far. Line in and 3 lots of gcsfs done, with sone pain in lower back. Other than that, seems ok. Colinnsaw one of the consultants today and she's said for the second time, don't be disappointed if they don't get enough. We don't know whether she means first time, or at all, which is slightly disconcerting. 🙁 we…[Read more]

Apologies for the late reply. Just got back from hospital. Colin went in today to get his line put in, and all seems to be going well so far. 3rd lot of gcsfs done and pain seems ok, apart from in his back. In good spirits. We'll see how the harvest goes as long as the line is in the right place! Colin should be coming home…[Read more]

Hi Andy
Glad to hear the radiotherapy went well, Colin had a blast of it at the start of his treatment and despite feeling a bit tired and short of breath was ok, and he has not had too many problems since. Colin also had cyclphosmhide as part of his treatment and was effective, so I hope it's the same for you. Its about time you were given a…[Read more]

Hi mike,
My partner Colin was diagnosed last October 2011, like you at a routine appointment! We were shocked, scared and unaware of this condition! He has one wedge on his vertebrae, has been able to work most of the time, either from home or at work, during treatment. He is waiting a SCT in august. To be honest once we got into a routine we…[Read more]

Hi Trish, I had my SCT in Dec 2010 and I have not had any re-vaccinations, not even for travel abroad.
As a point of interest I was told to be wary of animals in general and not to touch them. Not sure how long this quarantine was meant to go on for but even now as a rule I do not touch stray animals.

Hi Stephen, have been thinking about you and glad to read that you are getting through this without too much trauma. I managed to talk my way out on Day 21, so maybe you haven't got too much longer to go., (Filling in my own food chart helped as I entered what I ordered but not necessarily what I actually ate!). You will know when you feel…[Read more]

Keep going buddy just keep going.
I took up Tom's idea of using 6 x 500ml bottles. I fill them up every morning, then I can see where I am with fluid intake, also it silently nags you to "get them down".

We are blessed with seven Grandchildren, now ranging from 8 years to 18. Every now and again I see a mannerism, voice inflection or attitude that I recognise as my own or my wife?s and I know that a little piece of us has passed on to our grandchildren. It has been so rewarding watching them grow up. Enjoy!

Hi Mari,
I just wanted to drop you a line, hoping that all went well with Stephen and his second harvest. I too am just a bit relieved at the thought of being allowed a second go if needs be.
