A bit nervous before we went as he seems to pick up infections all the time, but it was worth it (weather rubbish!). Glad things are goin ok for you Stephen, we were…[Read more]

Hi Andy and wife (sorry what is her name?),
Thanks for your kind words….don't know how we cope with it really, but we are both stubborn ha ha, and don't like something to beat us!. We have tried to keep a bit of humour as well, though that's not easy. We said we were going to treat it like a project, needless to say I ended up demoted as…[Read more]

It is a very good idea and in fact I had the Myeloma UK diary but it fell by the wayside I am afriad. I do wish I had the ability to keep a diary. I have tried many times in my life but I am just not "clerical". Give me a hammer and screwdriver and I am ok but a pen makes me shudder.

Hi Alethea
Welcome 🙂 My partner Colin was diagnosed in October 2011. it was a complete bolt out of the blue. We have certainly been on a roller coaster….lots of hospital visits …..even today for a temperature and he has been off treatment for 4 wks now waiting SCT! The positive of what I'm saying is the medical teams are great at…[Read more]

Hi Andy,
🙂 🙂
We are with Dai and David. We asked the hard question at the beginning. How long and got told the 5 year average. We were then met by the trial nurse and I cried from one end of the hospital to the other…..that's not me to cry in public. That said we knew that worst, however it's become the challenge to avoid. Our catch…[Read more]

Dia has hit the important questions I think. However it depends on how hard you want to bite the bullet.
I insisted, and I mean insisted, on a Prognosis right from the very start. "If all goes well 2 to 3 years" I was told in July 2009. The question I would be asking is what treatments are now available to me and what is the prognosis if…[Read more]

Hi helen,
Just a quick line to say we hope you are feeling better after your gastro trouble. I get the impression it's best to take your time on this recovery trail. By they way Tom is right about the hair, it looks good. Still can't persuade Colin to go blond after SCT!

Hi Keith,
I have asked Colin how he was on revlimid. He had 7 cycles of it along with dex and cyclphosmhide. The first cycle he was very very tired and spent a couple of days in bed at one point. He went though peaks and troughs of having energy and being able to go to work on and off, but then completely wiped out by six thirty at night. There…[Read more]
