Yes, I think getting some fluids, anyway you can, in is better than none.
However my understanding of it is that dehydration is one of the dangers facing us and therefore ?fluids?, in my case six pints of water a day, is essential. But ask any two Doctors to give an opinion and you will get six different answers. I know all the…[Read more]

How very true. I think this site puts your own problems into perspective, and, sometimes, you realise that things could be a whole lot worse 😉 😀 .

Dear Sarah I was gutted to read your post about Gordon. I have been having a terrific time the last months, following my SCT, the result being I have managed to get on the site only occasionally and not for very long and I somehow missed your original post.
I wish you all the best in the world ? May your God be with you – Vasbyte

Hi Min, Can I query the "fluids" definition? I was informed that Diuretic drinks, like tea and coffee do not count when measuring the amount of fluid intake. But I support your principle to get something in it is better than nothing.
To be on the safe side I just count pure water, if there is such a thing as "pure" water, he he. (I do not…[Read more]

Hi Amelia, You post all the questions you want girl, that is what we are, or at least I am, here for. Sometimes it is just good to ask although you know the people might not have any idea of the answer, I find it gets it off my plate so to speak and I can relax a little. And, who knows we may, just may, be able to help or reassure you.
If…[Read more]

Hi All,
Just back from our trip down the Rhine/Mosel and popped in to say hallo. We returned late Wednesday night and are spending Thursday and Friday sorting out clothes and garden getting ready for the next trip which is a week?s holiday with all my family at St Ives, which starts Saturday!
The cruise trip was excellent. My first…[Read more]

Pinch Punch first of the month to you all 😀
Just had my 10 week check up, I am now 6 months post SCT, and it is all looking good. PPs are at 2.3 which is up 0.1, so I should complain, on last month but all other measurements? are looking very good I am told. I can now stop taking the anti vial tablets, but, after my trip to the Rhine and…[Read more]

Hi Sue, I do not get onto the site as often as I would like these days. I am very busy with jobs and holidays at the moment (just finished making my prototype bird table/ nesting box and my ?Living and the dead? tour of the UK), shortly I am off to the Rhine/Moselle for a Cruise) .
However, I would like to wish Michael the very best of luck…[Read more]

You are right Dai, it is expensive £233 for ten days but I have always been a bit of belt and braces man! The last thing I want to leave my family is an expensive medical bill if I run into problems, although I have always joked with my children that I would leave them an "equal share of the debt in my will" I do not actually want to do it:-D…[Read more]

The important thing about holiday insurance is to ENSURE that your illness, and your medical history for that matter, is INCLUDED and not EXCLUDED. I have just met a friend of mine who gaily told me his insurance company had told him there was no extra charge for Bowel Cancer, I said that is not possible and when we checked they had excluded…[Read more]

Hi Carol, Again, sorry not a horse person.
I had my SCT in Dec. I started to have lower back pain about 12 weeks ago. An x-ray confirmed that is was my old, worn hips (which I already knew about) was the problem. I take nothing for them but I am very active, including cycling, and like you I find keeping mobile and active does help.…[Read more]

Hi all, we had a feed about sensitive teeth awhile back. I just thought I would update that.
My sensitive teeth and jaw started about 4 weeks after SCT (14 Dec 2010). I could not use the right hand side of my mouth to chew anything, and the teeth at the lower rear (somebody will know the technical name I suspect) were very sensitive,…[Read more]
