Hi Ian, glad to hear you are still bombing along. In general discussion with my Consultant he expressed the opinion that the effects of treatment get weaker as time goes on. This would in fact fit the pattern you have been given.

I am getting slightly confused here. Velcade is not Revlimide under a diferent name is it?
If it is not what advantage does Velcade have, just a cheaper treatment than Revlimide or somewhay better?

Ahh Dai, You just ruined my week, so sorry to hear the bad news. I thought you were in the clear and up and running. It must be devastating for you, having been given a possible 5 to 8 years.
I did not make remission ? plateaued I am told ? so I am not really expecting too long before I have to go to the next phase. I am just praying for…[Read more]

That is interesting Mari. Did I read your positng correctly, that Steve's PP level was 17 prior to SCT. Can you remember what his pp level was when he did the Stem Cell Harvest?

Perkymite replied to the topic PP levels in the forum General 14 years, 8 months ago
When I broke my neck my PP level was 39, that was its highest point. Now I have had my SCT my last reading was 2.2. The lowest reading I have ever had was 1.8 two months prior to my SCT.
I was told early on in my diagnosis that most people would have a 1.5 pp rating – the difference being the PP is not active, I think, but I do not…[Read more]

I am sure one of our members did have an ALLO transplant, and it was not that long ago, unfortunately I cannot remember who it was. Sorry not very helpful but I will keep my brain churning over, it might come to me.

Must say I enjoy your posts Nigel.
I am not on any treatment at the moment, leaving aside anti-pills for everything, my next appointment with destiny being on the 6th May. I feel great and I am getting loads of jobs done around the house that I know in the future I will not be able to do.
Best of luck with your next round, although I have a…[Read more]

Hi Edo, If you can tackle the food problem I feel it might help him with his other problems.
How about a Complan drink made up with milk, ice cream, jelly and a fruit (I used banana or mandarins). I had this drink in hospital after my SCT I just could not eat anything and even water tasted foul. You can get different flavoured drinks and mix…[Read more]

Dia, I really enjoyed listening to your music, thanks.
I read your explanation of the lyrics, after I had heard the song, the more I read the text as you sang I had the feeling this was in some way about your Myeloma. This I should hasten to add is not any form of critic (I am as musical as a rusty bed) just the way I heard the words of the…[Read more]

Hi Keith, hang on in there buddy, you sounded pretty down in your last posting, "[i]making long term plans, and what a fool am I[/i]" . Not so.
I did not get into remission after SCT, I am on a Plateau so I am told so I might well be joining you all pretty soon on the Revlidimid/velcade whatever bus! So just keep going all of you, you guys…[Read more]

It is nearly 8 months since we buried our Border Collie, Guinness – he was black and white and had a good head on him – 15 1/2 years of great friendship.
I kept him alive too long because I could not bear to lose him, he suffered in the last month because of my selfishness, something I will always regret. I called the vet three times and three…[Read more]

Yes, the Skeletal Survey is perfectly normal; firstly indicates where any Myeloma sites are located but also gives them a "bench Mark" to check further skeletal surveys/X-Rays against.
The fact that they did not carry out any further examination, such as MRI scan, after the X-Ray indicates that they could not see any lesions on his bones which…[Read more]
