After reading your other post a day or so ago, Min, I already sent a pm to the webteam asking them to consider adding a forum section on grief, so anyone who needs to can post there without feeling they might be upsetting any others who might prefer to avoid the subject for whatever reason.

And I am glad you see you are enjoying this Indian summer of ours and making plans.

I wore my Bridget woolly hat a lot last winter and it fitted me from the bald stage up to when I had a couple of inches of curly locks!

I am glad to hear you are feeling able to make some more, Bridget.

If you remember, you were kind enough to send me two last year – one red one and one lovely white one with a button/tab detail.

I never got round to wearing the white one, as I fell in love with the red one, but have recently gifted it to a friend of my sister who has just started to lose her hair after chemotherapy for a different cancer. I hope you don't mind.

Welcome to the club you never asked to join, Aileen!

I am glad you found this website as there are so many others out there which are quite frightening and doomladen.

Wishing you an uneventful procedure, Sandy!!

Will you be able to get online when you are in hospital? I found it really helped in the wee small hours to be able to be in contact with cyberfriends.

Wishing you an uneventful recovery, Helen!

I had mine just over a year ago and though my hair didn't all fall out while in hospital it got fairly sparse in places and very thin and straggly, so when I was allowed home I made a stop on the way at the local barber's to have it all taken off down to the wood.

It was weird not to have any hair after 30+ years of long thick wavy hair, but after a bit I got used to the look, and was quite comfy wearing one of Bridget's famous hats when out and about till after Christmas.

By then it had started to regrow as I went from a slaphead to a suedehead and finally saw little curls develop. Now a year later I am at the stage of having to decide if I am going to get a haircut or start having to "style" it instead of just running my fingers through it to make it tidier.

My latest photo was taken a few weeks ago and is in my profile.

Has anyone else noticed that other people who know you want to touch the new barnet as it grows? We go to an ex-army association lunch once a month and several of the gents there can't resist patting or ruffling my hair when they pass my chair!!

Sending you cyberhugs and condolences, Sarah.

As the others have written already, it is no surprising that you feel no special extra grief at the moment after the hammer blows you have had lately.

I hope all goes well for your family over the next few months as you all come to terms with events.

Goodness me, I would not have imagined the swearing censor was a poly-linguist!

Does anyone know any other foreign swear words to test? Could be useful to have an arsenal of sweary words that could slip past the software sometimes 😉
