Hi
Sorry you had to join us. As other people have said you will get loads of support and friendship here and sometimes a bit of a laugh about other things besides mm.
It is my husband who has mm. He had a Stem Cell transplant in the summer of 2009 He is now on a bucket load of drugs to prepare him for the next one.
He was Ok having the Stem Cell transplant but tell me about the drugs!! Dexamethasone (sp) turns my mild mannered, caring and loving husband into a 2 headed monster (both of which I would like to cut off:-) )
Do keep posting on here, asking questions and getting support from everybody.
Godd luck Gill
Good luck Min I hope that you get your redundancy and enjoy more time doing the things that you want to do with Peter

Hi Roz
Thanks for letting us know how Michael's service went. I suppose it is now one day at a time for you. I think it is a lovely idea to take Michael's ashes to Teignmouth, but don't rush it. You'll know when the time is right.
When my dad died the funeral director had a tick list and automatically went to tick off "ashes = garden of rememberance" too imperssonal for my liking. We bought a beautiful weeping japanese cherry tree for the garden and put the ashes under there To me it meant I could still chat to him now and again.
Silly I suppose but it gave me some comfort.
Do keep in touch if you can
Love and kindest wishes from Gillxxx
I do hope erverything went well today Roz

Hi Jenny
I am pleased that your dad feels a little better. I do agree that a care package would help a great deal when your dad goes home but I can understand how fearful your step-mum is.
When Stephen was due to come home after his SCT I wanted to beg the hospital to keep him in. I was terrified that he might get an infection or I would give him the wrong thing to eat (it was afterwards that I remembered I had stopped him eating anything in hospital becaus they were giving him stuff he was not supposed to have and I had supplied his food from the start!!)
Good luck to you all Gillxx
Thanks everybody for your good wishes. It's another West Highland White Terrier Min They grow to be about 12 inches high and think they are 12 feet. Like Peter our Westie is what gets Stephen out of bed He walks about 2 or 3 miles with her every morning come rain, shine, snow or hurricane.
Roz I know that Michael was confused towards the end but when I showed Stephen your reply he said that it was quite a nice confusion to believe that he had his dog there and had walked it. I do hope you are OK.
Our 2 year old "Echo" loves having other dogs visit but when she realises that this one is not going home and she will have to share her "peeps" (people) I am not so sure she will be as pleased. "Watch this space".
David maybe you could "adopt" a neighbour's dog. Somebody who is out all day and needs a helping hand to keep "Rover" company:)
Hope everybody is OK Gill xx
No ofeence Sharon just a scracthing of head (hair!) and wondering what colour would be under there. Even at my age I am still too vain to find out 🙂

Dear Roz
I think you are so brave to keep posting on here I am sure we would all miss you if you were not keeping in touch. Don't forget everybody on here is thinking of you and sending hugs.

So pleased that all is going well. Gill xx
PS to Sharon as a 60 year old that has had her hair faintly high lighted for the last umpteen years I dread to think what colour it would grow into!!!!
Hi Ron
It is my husband with mm he has not had a transfusion as yet but has been throught to CDT route (this is his second lot) I am sure many others will give you more info than I can. Good luck Gill
I am so sorry that you have a difficult time with this doctor. Heavens you have enough to go through without that as well.
I hope you find a way to approach this particular person (they are only people underneath their training) and explain that he is a bumptious, unpleasant human being that should take a few inter-personal skill classes:)
On a more serious note is there a nurse that you could explain to how upset you feel? Or could you take another family member or friend with both of you next time your husband has an appointment? Sometimes it is easier for somebody not quite as close to the patient to speak their mind then and there.
Please keep us posted and good luck Gill
DearRoz
I am so sorry to hear about Michael. Please accept my apologies for not being in touch sooner but we have had problems with the internet and have been off line for a while.
I do hope you manage to get through all the things you have to. Thank goodness you have family to help.
Love from Gill xx
Hi David
The first time we went away after Stephen's diagnosis we went with MIA. No problem at all but then we discovered that we were already covered for health insurance on an insurance policy we already held as long as we let them know that we are going and that Stephen is not currently on treatment (RT Chemo etc) they don't include maintenance drugs those are OK.
Check any insurance policies you have to see if you have cover that you are already paying for.
