Hi Helen & Jo.
Thank you for your support… I was wondering the same thing Helen, that I could have fractured it by over-stretching etc., although I can't remember any particular occasion where I might have done so.
I was sent by my haematologist consultant to see an orthopaedic consultant at the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham… not…[Read more]

Hi Bridget & Tom,
Thank you for your encouraging words… I have sort of convinced myself that it is 'normal' damage… or that if it is by way of mm disease, that the pain is due to the residual damage caused by the disease which has now been dealt with by R&D.:-)
Otherwise I feel okay… good appetite, PN bearable, look okay… ah,…[Read more]

Hi Nicola lovely to hear from you Wow what a wonderful turnout for your dad you must have felt so proud of him. When I was very young I was scandalised at people smiling and laughing after a funeral its only as I got older I realised its such a necessary part of the grief process Those laughs and stories told at your dads wake are more precious…[Read more]

Morning Dai no wonder you have been losing sleep there is nothing worse than having a pain you dont know the cause of . I must admit I am very surprised your doctor dismissed your concern without even doing an x-ray . I think you are right to insist on examination of your shoulder as soon as !If it is mm then it does not necessarily mean your…[Read more]

Hi Kay I agree with whats already been said , you need to be kinder to your body !! Your determination is incredible but you have been through the most challenging treament and your body does need time to recover If you push yourself too hard now you could delay you recovery rather than speed it up so please listen to your body and rest when you…[Read more]

Hi All,
I know it sounds rather silly but I have been in a lot of pain over the past 6 weeks with my shoulder and I haven't taken anything but paracetamol. :-S
I reported it first about 8 weeks ago (a couple of weeks before starting Rev & Dex)… my consultant said that the Rev & Dex should take care of it (assuming it was a new area of…[Read more]

Hi Ozzey
I was type 2 diabetic before I was diagnosed with MM I was very well managed but since all the steriods during CDT and now a small dose because of the renal failure they have put me on insulin as steriods raise the sugar levels so much this could be what has happened in your case I'm manageing quite well but its not ideal but all these…[Read more]

Hi Eve and Dai thought I would join your conversation about morphine! Like you Dai I have been on it constantly for 5 years now The dose has increased from the early days as my pain has increased I have always worried about being so reliant on it but Iknow I cannot manage without it . Hi Eve,
Its either amazing, or an amazing coincidence… but 2 nights of one small dose Amitryptiline and 2 nights of at least 6 hours solid sleep… sans sweats and directly on the back of a Dexday tm…. I'm impressed and hoping for more of the same. I have woke early both days (6ish) and stayed awake but so much more refreshed than with the…[Read more]

Ha ha 🙂 thanks Dai. I feel like I have been well told off. I needed it too. Think I am still in denial that I even had myeloma and the treatment. But as they say "denial is not a river in Egypt". It's a powerful feeling. Will take note and slow down. Think I just needed reassurance that I was not imagining my tiredness. Thanks Tom for your…[Read more]
