Hi Helen
I think i maybe able to help,i have had 2 occupational health interviews. Now i had the choice either to attend at their offices or have a "over the phone interview".I had the over the phone version which saved me a 24 mile round trip.
After the "interview" you will/should receive a written report of the meeting, below are the headings on my report.
Currents health issues-You give them info about your condition, treatment, how you feel while on and off medication.let them know about your medical certificate (if you have one)and just tell them how you feel you would like to return to work.My advisor has stated that I would have a disability relevant to the Equality act 2010 and is clearly defined in the act.
Current capacity for employment
My advisor stated in this section about my ability to return to work at this stage, also included about any change of hours that may have been requested when returning to work.

My employers (local authority) have been very very supportive, and I have not found this a problem area. You should be able to take union representation in should you need.
You maybe asked to share the report with your line management, but this needs your agreement.
I have been off work now for 9 months and had 3 home visits from my manager and 2 Occupational health interviews all have been very supportive, with thoughts towards my return to work when ready after SCT and allo graph.
I asked the question-"will i be made redundant at the 12 month point?" answer was absolutely not!
The only thing to watch for I think.. is early retirement due to medical condition.
Hope the above helps
cheers Paul

Hi Andy
I asked my consultant about alcohol and she says 2 small glasses of red wine is allowed on a weekend.(or equivalent)
Personally i think your body will tell you whats right, and going out every so often is a good thing.
I am currently on valcade,Dex,Doxorubicin and on 1 week take all three and my sense taste goes completely out of the window!including alcohol. So on my week off meds I have a treat Fri/Sat.
Something will work
cheers Paul8-)

Hi Mavis
My consultant told me last week after my PET scan that my left ribs and sternum were were weaker(lesions). My consultant is great and she knows that I ride a mountain bike (when meds allow me!) which inst often enough. She now tells me "stay off the bike till after SCT"
All these things can come out of the blue abit and change things, but we are all getting used to change i suspect.Listen to me me!! probably one of the youngest on site rattling on!!
My first treatment(RCD) failed but now on valcade and dates set for cyclo-priming and SCT harvest at Jimmy's in Leeds .

Hi Kirsty
I was diagnosed last Aug at 39 and it was abit of a bomb shell as well, but the people on this site a great and always happy to support where can.I turned 40 in December and currently on valcade injections and awaiting stem cell transplant. You will come across medical jargon….if unsure just ask we are all on a learning curve. But stick with this site for sound advice and support. And as Bridget would rightly say listen to your body and and when you need to rest "rest" and when you got the energy "go for it".

Hi Eve
Unsure if I have read your e-mail right but here goes.I have received my letter for SCT.The process explained to me is as follows.
I had tests for heart, lungs and CT and MRI and only one still to do is a dental check. That should be fine as i go often.
My cyclo priming is on 14th May with harvest due 23rd/24th/25th May at St James Leeds (jimmy's)
My travel time is not as far as yours maybe 40 miles round trips, seems they should try to do as many tests on one trip for you guys as possible.
stay positive and keep in touch.
love paul

I am currently on the PADs route and taking Dex.Week 1 of my cycle i take Dex over 4 days, which is 40mg per day.
I get the hiccups, upper body weight stomach/chest/neck.I also get some hot sweats at night and my pillow can be wet.So dehydration could be an issue but I drink between 2-3 pints of fluids a day.
I do feel "wired" when on Dex and I think it does effect the thought process I.E feeling "mentally foggy".

Hello David
Are you on Dex? a side effect of Dex can be hiccups (i get them)I have found that metaclopramide (anti sickness tab)helps to ease or stop them.
otherwise hope you are well and enjoying spring weather.
cheers Paul
