Back in my bad old days when I had just started down my treatment path I remember going out for a walk with my wife. It was a glourious day, the sun was shining flowers everywhere and the world seemed good. It really picked my up I can tell you, I felt so much better and the world did not seem such a dark place.

If he likes walking, and I do, encourage him to get out as soon as it is warm and just sit on a park bench for a rest now and again.

Hi Mavis, Welcome(?). Sorry you have had to join us but you will find they are a good bunch here.

Be wary of what your read generally on the Internet a lot of it is out of date and can be very depressing. This site is packed with useful, up-to-date, information so take your time to search it; you will find it very, very helpful. If you have a question please feel free to ask on this forum, you will find people on here who are at all the stages of Myeloma and if they cannot help there is always our own personal specialist Myeloma UK Nurse Helen who is just a free phone call away.

I am not a career I have Myeloma but I know exactly what you mean about telling your children. I was hospitalized at the time so my wife had that task. I am 69 and my children are in their late 40s my oldest grandchild is 18 youngest 8. On occasions I have discussed with my 8 year old granddaughter what Myeloma is doing to me she is very curious and inquisitive and asks the questions the older Grandchildren do not like to ask. It can be very refreshing in some odd way. It has been a very rewarding experience to feel the love of my children and grandchildren as I go through this and I have taken the opportunity to tell them how much I love them.

Kindest regards ? Vasbyte – you are not alone.

I know excalty where you are coming from Flowers have the same affect on me. I have my Daffs up at the moment flooding the garden with yellow, only problem is I have several bare patches, slugs ahhhhhhhhhh.

I potted on 360 Geraniums yesterday, two large pots of Sweet Peas and stuck up the bamboo wigwam for them. They are in my green house at the moment but the Sweet Peas will go either side of a garden seat I built some years ago.

Hi Helen, I finally decided on Skimmia Japonica – SubSp Reevesania.

Two main reasons : one the height and spread, maxinmum after many years 1 metre X 1 metre, and secondly NO prunning, apart from nipping of dead branches in the spring. There are several other advantages but if you type in its name in google you will see the plant.

    Start planting in in April.

Hi Janet, Just wanted to offer my support at this time.

I am a year into my first SCT, and I was told at the start that it might only last 18 months and at 69 I have no chance of a second one, so FIVE years is wonderful. I will have to keep my fingers crossedd 😀 .

I agree with Nettie and Bridget take your time, find out what your options are and then give them a lot of thought before you burn any bridges 🙂
