My wife has MM, and was diagnosed in 2008 in Nimes in France. ( If anyone would like to hear about our French experience please let me know!) Been under treatment in UK since 2009. In 2010 to take our minds off MM we bought a ruin in Burgundy that we are still in the process of restoring. We are not sure which of these two things are more difficult to deal with.
