    Hi all,

Thanks very much for good wishes etc. It was s real shock for Colin as whilst his dad had been in hospital for pneumonia which in itself was serious we did not expect cancer and for him to pass away within a week of being told about it! The hard bit as you say chris is dealing with it all. We went to Stratford where colins parents live to do some admin, sort his mum out etc and she is crippled with arthritis!. That turned into a whole day and by the end I thought I'd have to take Colin to hospital, he was mentally and physically shattered!.

I've taken the rest of the week off to sort things, colins absolutely shattered, over did it and is now whacked in bed from 3pm this afternoon.(checked no temperature or him feeling I'll. It's weird, Christmas cards on one side, condolence cards on the other 🙁

    Sorry to hi jack post!

Chris, tastes are all back. How are u doing?

Hope all works out for you ann and pete?

    Hey Helen,

Congratulations and keep posting the good news….it's encouraging and shows that there is a good life after SCT :-). So pleased for you and your family. You need to keep going to see the hobbit series now :-). and you look like a 45 year old so that's a great move too…..I reckon it's all those new young stem cells!

Happy Christmas to you all, just need to get rid of that cough now!

    Hi Jean and Frank,

7.2 million, gosh that's a massive score……in the back of the net ha ha 🙂

Result that man, no pain no gain was right. Always good when those pains prove dividends.

    Happy christmas to you both!

Ali…. Hope your mums doing well 🙂 fingers crossed

Ann and pete, any news on what your next steps are?

    Best to all

    Hi ann and pete,

Sorry to hear you had a disappointing day……been there done that and got the t shirt!. It's he'll isn't it! Waiting for those blood results to see if they are going to collect is a bugger! Colin did not even get on the machine the first attempt, or the second attempt. It was only when they hot the plerixafor that he just about managed to get the 2.04 million! Nobody told us what the right score would be…..although I seem to remember someone saying 2million nut that could be just relating to Colin:-) keep us posted, we do hope it goes well.

Jean and Frank, that's a good sign with the pain isn't it? Chest and back pain a good sign. You might be up for a bumper harvest 🙂

    Best of luck.

We are ok except colins dad passed away in the early hours of Monday morning so we are in a bit of a funny situation trying to deal with all that and keep Colin well 🙁

Best wishes and happy Christmas to you all

    Hi Megan

Hope Phil is still feeling ok. With regard to the counting we were told that when the high does therapy was given that was day minus 2, then a rest day and then the cells return on the first day I think was day zero then plus one and so on. To be honest we lost track of what day it was and were just gritting our teeth to get through it. We did feel a bit freaked out when they told us that his immune system was getting closer to zero because that's when we started to really worry about infection. I'm not sure if I expected some sort of siren to go off when it got to zero but actually it was quote uneventful! In some repsects.

Ref the room he is bound to go into a separate room when his immune systems go down.

Best of luck and keep your chin up

Great to hear from you…we wondered how you were getting on! Hey those pps have come down a bit which is absolutely great, that's the right direction. I told you it's the benefit of having that Greek holiday. When there's a slim chance there is always a chance! There's also the plerixafor to try to prize those cells out of the bone marrow when they've recovered a bit!

That's got to be good news and the options for trying old and new drugs as well!

Great news and when you've not got much to report to the consultant then that must be good too!

Happy Christmas to you and steph

That sounds scary, glad they whipped you into shape again. Got to say when Colin has a temperature of 37.6 (hospital told us to ring if 37.5 or if generally felt unwell irrespective of temperature). Some were on tom the hospital in a flash…..Colin knew this was not a time tom challenge me nagging :-)… Do I ever. My thought is in straight away and get it sorted.

Hope you are feeling better soon and have a great Christmas

    Ann and pete,

Good luck for the harvest….fingers and toes crossed for you. They are great at Southmead. A wonderful team who were very knowledgeable and supportive of me and Colin x. The hair thing was a big step for Colin too but surprisingly we've got used to it…..and cuts down on the hair gel requirements! Apparently almond oil rubbed into the scalp afterwards encourages a healthy supple skin and good hair growth…..if that fails, apparently you can use it for cooking 🙂

    Happy Christmas to you

    Hi Peter,

Colin is being treated in Gloucestershire. The hospital in Gloucester for blood visits, and the recent SCT and after checks done at the LINC unit in cheltenham. Great team! They don't want to see him for am couple of weeks now, but weekly blood tests!

Glad to hear you'll be able to get festivities and party over with. At least you can enjoy nice food and maybe a tipple of something…..dare I say try White wine? Anyway best wishes for Christmas and on the road to 17th Jan and the big one…..then it's big recovery in slow time, and as Tom would say 'onwards and upwards!'
