  • Thanks Phil, I've been warned obout the sweetcorn! Cheers, Chris

  • Hi Everyone,
I had my chemo yesterday which went ok, but left me with a nasty headache which knocked me out a bit.
I am taking handfulls of tablets for anything from sickness to antibiotics to steroids, but other than rattling a bit I feel reasonably ok.
Lena has been able to stay with me a lot which has been nice, and made the time go…[Read more]

  • Thanks Ali! Hug back 🙂

  • Thanks Eve, she will read this, so perhaps she can bring in my Beano mug!
Seems a while away, but roll on home time! Thanks for the encouragement, Chris

  • HI Vicky and Colin,
Pretty dull today really, my line is a bit less painful, and all I have had done is some anti viral and tummy medicine, and mouthwashes, and fluids all day ready for my chemo tomorrow.
I am surviving the food, although mealtimes are hardly the highlight of the day!
I enjoyed Rolf Harris tonight, and the daytime antiques…[Read more]

  • Cheers Tom, so far so good, I'm feeling well!

  • Sounds good, what bike does he ride? Wish him well with the recovery! Chris

  • Thanks for all your good luck messages!
Well I am now settled in to a nice room in Musgrove Hospital with a view from the window into a nice little garden area, it's a double room but no neighbour yet!
This afternoon I had a central line fitted into my neck, near the jugular (luckily the knife didn't slip!) so it is easier to give me the chemo…[Read more]

    HI Vicky and Colin,
Cool picture – nice to meet you at last! Lena is camera shy but I will try to include her in a new pic, or attach one here if I can work out how to!
We had a lovely meal thank you, huge steak (for me) and a bottle of our favourite Pinot!
My new blog is called 'Revving up for SCT' and is one of the discussions under…[Read more]

  • Thank Eliz, Yes, I am girding my loins ready for the morning, and have had a lovely weekend enjoying the sun, gardening and organizing everyone to do things when I have 'gone' so to speak! Oh, and having a final thrash on the bike!
Have spent today weeing into a large container for one of my tests,:-| and now prepared to have every bodily…[Read more]

Blimey David, I was hoping to get back to work once I get out! :-/
I love my wife, but I think I would go nuts if I couldn't see my Mates, or do anything for 8 weeks. If that's the advice, then I guess that will be the only choice, but 'her in doors' is constantly nagging when I go to the pub etc at the moment so I havn't been overly cautious so…[Read more]

Hi Both, I'm really sorry to hear about your delay – it must be pretty gutting after the build up – still, another week of freedom at least! As far as I know I am still in on Monday, I will continue my new Blog and let you know how I am getting on.
Have you seen the Stand up To Cancer programme tonight? Fantastic efforts for raisng money to…[Read more]

Hi Vicky and Colin, well done both of you and like me you will be getting set for the 22nd – what a coincidence! I am frantically trying to organize the garden, and work stuff in case I am 'inside' for a long time, but also avoid catching any of the Autumn bugs which seem to be going around at the moment. We have a meal booked at out favourite…[Read more]

Well done Vicky and Colin! I said it would be fine, and tomorrow you will do even better, particularly with that double dose. I found day two much easier, knowing the form and what to expect, but daytime TV was getting a bit tedious by the end! Good luck and stick with it, you are nearly there and can have a huge rest at the end of the week. As it…[Read more]

  • Oh, just spotted your other question, it takes the lab about an hour or so to get the result of how many, and you can either hang around or they will ring you. With me, I went back to the hospital in Taunton on day 1 so they told me there. There are 2 machines, the newer ones are faster and I had that on the second day and we were done by 2.00pm,…[Read more]

  • HI Guys, yes still here! One eye on eBay and one on Flog It, and my third on this laptop! Yes, I had a score of 13 on day 1, and about 21 on day 2, but they didn't wait for the scores, just plugged me straight in both days. On both days they collected just over 2 million which is the target for one transplant, as they like to keep enough for 2…[Read more]

  • Hi Tom, you're on! I will try to beat 16 days if I can!

Hi Vicki, I can understand that you feel restless, but tomorrow will soon arrive! Did Colin have double doses of the GCSF, or single ones? – I did double doses for 4 days in the evenings. I would say it is a good sign that he is having a strong reaction, the first time I didn't feel much, but with the double doses I did have aching legs and back -…[Read more]

  • [b]The Championship moves towards its Final Round![/b] The waiting is finally over, and I have been given a date for my SCT, [b]22 October [/b]is in 2 weeks time, and I am booked into Ward 9 at Musgrove to have the Transplant.
I am having a mixture of feelings from excitement, relief, panic and sheer terror! At the end of the day I am keen to…[Read more]

Hi Vicki and Colin, We are thinking of you both on your big day, and I guess that Colin will be kept in overnight for the Plerixafor jab which is nothing dramatic. They are a brilliant team in Bristol, and have a great sense of humour which helped me relax and get on with the job! My results were low on my first attempt, but the P really did the…[Read more]
