Hi Ted its good to hear you can relax for another few months without worrying about your results ! I hope that it stays the same for a very long time It used to be said that you knew you were getting old when policemen looked young but I find its doctors , nurses , teachers ( the list is endless!) so I guess I must be ancient Teehee love Bridget

Hi Onlyme sorry your mum had such a rocky start to her treatment , hopefully things will go more smoothly now . I had similiar problems in harvesting enough stemcells for a second harvest My local health authority refused to fund the Plerixafor injections and I was able to produce the bare minimum but enough to do the job . I was told that if there had been slightly less cells they would have grown some more in the lab from the cells they had! All these problems will have been worth it though if your mum gets a very long remission after her sct , my fingers crossed for her Best wishes Bridget

Hi Sarah I would like to add my welcome too. You have been lots of good info about sct so far and I am sure you will have more specific questions nearer the time. You have probably realised myeloma is a very individual disease and as we all react differently its hard to predict each persons response The one thing that is the same for most of us is to rest when your body needs to , there are no chores that wont wait for another day !! It can take some people several months before they have enough energy to return to work but others need much less time It sounds as if Henry was lucky in being diagnosed before myeloma caused any bone damage which is good At the moment your lives feel totally dominated by mm but it does get easier and you find things become more normal and much less scary Good luck Henry with your treatment best wishes Bridget

Hi Jenny welcome to the club!! Iam glad you are coping with treatment so far, just remember to be kind to yourself and take it easy when your body needs it any chores will wait for another day Whereabouts do you live? You say there is not much support did you mean there are no support groups? Hopefully there will be one you can get to so you dont feel so alone, if not this site is the best support going There are so many of us at different stages plus carers , partners and children , all glad to offer support Stem cell transplants are tough but so worth going through when there is a chance you will get a long period of remission, keep that goal in mind to help you through it If you have questions about the transplant you will get lots of help on here Good luck I hope your treatment continues to go well Best wishes Bridget

Hi Jim welcome to our little club that no-one wants to be in! It must have been a huge shock for you , in fact it is for us all I was 51 , but 40 does seem too young The advantages are that your physical fitness will stand you in good stead when it comes to treatment and hopefully you will get to a point where you are in complete remission, so hang in there!! I was on the Myeloma X Trial a couple of years ago although I wasnt on it for long . I found the care was excellent as was the monitoring and I wouldnt hesitate to take part in another trial . My advice is to tell them of any changes you notice however small as they can adjust dosages so that life remains comfortable and minimum side-effects Good luck with the trial Bridget
