Dear Gaye you have been in my thoughts a lot lately and it is lovely to hear from you Not so lovely to hear you have had a rough time though. I can understand your decision to stop treatment completely Initially we are all for fighting the fight but these treatments that give us extra time take their toll, mentally and physically. I realised a little while ago that I too would come to a similiar decision at some point , at 5 years I am a little way behind you , and I am sure I will know when the time is right for me . Ever since I first found this support group your wonderful kindness and wisdom have got me over a few rocky patches and your lovely sernse of fun has given me a good giggle on many occasions Thankyou Gaye for being you and I feel priveliged to have known you even a little . I hope you can pop in to the site occasionally . Lots of love Gaye , you will be in my thoughts Bridget xx

Hi Gina your poor mum is really having a tough time lately it doesnt seem fair. I hope they get the answers they need from the tests very soon and they can then give her the treatment she needs. She is bound to feel down but hopefully her mood will pick up soon , she seems like a very strong minded lady and I cant imagine she will stay down for long Hang in there Gina it must be awful for you but I have crossed fingers and toes that things will get better very soon love Bridget x

Hi Gina sorry to hear your mum is still poorly but its amazing sometimes the difference a few days can make Paraproteins are coming down nicely and this should continue even if they halve the Velcade. I too thought anti-inflammatories were not good for us. Good luck and hope your mum feels better this week love Bridget x

Hi Dai what a nuisance but thank goodness they did identify it in the end. I really dont envy you the stocking and injection routine , just remember not to rub your belly when it stings cos thats what makes it bruise I only found out after several days and my stomach was one big bruise!! love Bridget x ps it will save Janet going to the gym too as she will get suoer muscles helping with those stockings!!

Hi Helen I hope your mums doctors will help you feel less anxious after her appointment today Unfortunately once myeloma appears it does change things , especially in the beginning when everything is new and scary. I promise you it really does get easier as you see your mum coping with various drugs and you start to know the names of all the treatments Life will get back to a normality , it wont be exactly as it was before but its not all high drama and fear Try and take things a day at a time , dont look too far ahead and worry about it . I am sure your mum will be worried about you too and together you will get through these early days Dont forget us mums are tougher than you think !!! love Bridget x

This such a great idea to ask for our input on technical services .I am not up to it though mores the pity , the number of catnips I need during the day at the moment would be bound to see me fall asleep mid sentence !! I hope someone more able can do it love Bridget aka Nodding Nelly

Hi Helen I am not sure I am going to be much help on this one What I do know though is that the very toxic medicines we take as treatment can be harmful to liver and kidneys as they try to flush it out It may be your mum needs a short break to give her liver time to recover , I would imagine they are being very cautious and doing a scan will give them answers Sorry I cant be more help Helen please let us know how your mum gets on love Bridget x

Dear Sarah there are no words to express how sad I am to hear Gordon has lost the battle against this bloody awful illness . Both of you faced myeloma with such positivity , strength and humour it just doesnt seem fair .I am sure you will use those qualities to get through the dark days ahead . I hope you will feel able to post from time to time if it is not too painful lots of love Bridget x

Hi Dai it still shocks me just how long you have been kept waiting for a potentially life-saving procedure that takes minutes to do !! I think Eve may have a point about publicity if only to highlight a very serious problem in the dire lack of resources in this area On the other hand as you said until now you have not had any complaints about your care. I am so glad you are shrinking and I just hope that last 30% goes quickly now ! Do you think your new machine has helped? By the way apparently cankle is a northern term and the gorgeous Cheryl Cole has them too!! Hope you and Janet are having a good weekend love Bridget x

Hi Jet good to hear things are going well , I never doubted your positivity would get you through it without too many problems!! Debs is home , feeling rough but at least she is with her family which helps a lot . Remember to try not to overdo it and give in when your body needs a rest love Bridget
