Thank you to you all for your replies. We know it will get to the point where there wont be any options but are hoping that they can give her the mdt again. although it only got her pp to 19 she still had 12 months without treatment till numbers started rising again. You never know something new may come along in the meantime. I hope you are all ok and thank you all again for caring.

Hi Angela, im so sorry about your dad, it is my mum who has MM She had the chemo firstly and did ok with it, she had 12 months partial remission and then it cam back.Mum started on velcade but only had 2 lots before she became ill.She firstly got an infection and then fluid on her lungs. When mum had a ecg and echo before starting velcade she was deemed borderline but healthy enough to have the velcade. But after the first two lots they realised that she was badly affected by the velcade thus stopping it She is now being monitored on her heart and kidneys as this is somewhere the treatment does affect. Mum is 71 and has had MM for 2 years, she isnt too well at the minute but doing ok, we are waiting for the next step of treatment that is best for her xx
Im glad you are going in, i have learnt from experience with my mum never to leave or put it off.
Hopefully like you said they can give you something that will make you feel better.
I feel for Janet as i know how hard it is to stand by and see the one you love and care for in such pain.
Fingers crossed for you Dai

Hiya Min,
I know how you feel when the patient wont get help when needed. Mum has done this twice and has nearly died in the process. This last time after 2 chest dtains and a sealing procedure mum has said in future as soon as she is ill she is going to the doctors. What a relief that is for us.
I hope that Peter is getting the treatment he needs and is on the mend. You take care of your self

Hiya Dai, I hope that you do get sorted and go and enjoy your holiday,it will be just what you need.
You are doing the right thing by getting checked because other wise you would only get worse, and then they would probably keep you in.
I hope you are ok and have a great holiday, you deserve it

Thank you ladies its much appreciated that you are thinking of my mum. I have been on and replied to Gayes post, i didnt really want to put anything as i know how upset everyone was upset on hearing about Gaye passing away, just has i was i think it hits us hard and brings it home on how awful this disease is and how quick it takes hold.
Mum at the moment isnt too bad, she is at home and her breathing has improved now she has had the procedure done on her lungs. She is very shaky but we have managed to take her in the car to the shop and library(just to get her some fresh air) We have been told that it was all caused by the myeloma and that we would hear from mums consultant. we are very lucky now has the new consultant Dr Baden is a lovely man who answers all our questions.
Mum got a phone call this week, she went for blood tests yesterday and we go to see Dr Baden on Tuesday to see what is happening next. We are hoping its the velcade as this was starting to work even though it affected her kidney function. We are hoping that they can give her smaller doses of it. So we will see on Tuesday so fingers crossed.
Thank you again for checking that we are ok it is most appreciated

Min you shout loud, we have learnt to do it and it works. when mum is at home and needs bloods the nurse from our surgery comes to the house to do it now. So it can be done.
I really hope things get sorted for you and peter and they start to listen.
You take care and keep us updated.

Hi Dai, your posts always make me stop and think. I admit i do come on here and its mainly when things are going wrong for mum and i need the support on here from you lovely people that understand.
My first port of call in a morning used to be facebook but now its here, its like picking up an newspaper and reading what is going on in your lives, are you ok? is anyone upset, sad news and even funny and happy news.
On another website i go on there is a heading "smile please" and everyone posts their jokes or funny stories. Its a bit of uplifting reading and as it says it does bring a smile to your face. Maybe we could do something like that.
Anyway as you always finish with Dai….onwards and upwards 🙂
Take care
