Hello John, it could well have been the sodium, however Megan is right in advising you to contact our myeloma nurse or your haematology nurse, my Mum had seizures due to her pain medication she was on oxycontin at the time which when reduced and changed to oxynorm stopped. Mums sodium level also dropped after starting Velcade, her fluid intake was reduced at home at the request of her Dr, she ended up on the oncology ward and they improved her condition but i am unsure what they did there for her.Sometimes infections cause problems, but hopefully you will know more on friday, hopefully she will have no more seizures, best wishes to you both San xx

Hello Deborah, sorry to hear that your pp’s have risen, there are many treatment regimes and i am sure that your treatment team will do their best for you, its hard not to worry about future treatment but hopefully when the decisions are made with you it will work out well for you and get you back into remission soon, and yes lets hope for a cure soon, my Mum initially had RCD on clinical trial which worked quickly for her earlier this year, San xx

Hi Clover, i don’t think that there is a strong genetic link or so my sister and i were told but in time we will all know more, maybe there will be triggers that we can avoid, try to keep your immune system strong and stress levels down and enjoy your life please don’t dwell on it, i so hope that your Dad is doing ok at the moment, and hope that Christmas will be good, we must all enjoy our loved ones in the here and now, don’t let this illness steal the better times with your Dad, and he will feel better if you are coping, i have found strength that i never thought that i could muster and i am sure that you will too, talk to your close friends they will be there for you, love San xxx

Thank you Richard and Megan for your posts, yes i am hoping that Mum will be settled in a lovely nursing home and that the family can visit her there over Christmas, she is having a blood transfusion today this might help her feel better, after her discharge from hospital i guess that little else will be done for her unless infection starts up, not sure why i put this in end of life forum but she is now sadly requiring palliative care but as you say if we can keep her spirits up she may have more fight in her though this week mentally it has been hard for her to feel like carrying on, guess that at these times we all [the family] find it hard to stay positive too but we must keep picking ourselves up and are determined to do the best that we can for her and the little ones this Christmas love San xx

Hi Trish yes my Mum has stopped Velcade after 2 cycles as her sodium levels have gone down and she was not eating properly and so lost weight and seemed muddled at times, currently in hospital having tests and we thought intially that she had an infection somewhere as her temp flucutated but maybe it was all due to the sodium so reduced fluids now, so not sure what is next for her treatment wise, it is certainly scary for everyone there is so much uncertainty with this illness, the fatigue is awful, lets hope that your Peter feels better soon now that he is off chemo and that you can enjoy your Christmas together and good to hear that the next clinic is'nt until January 🙂 San xx
