Hello John and June so sorry that you are having a tough time, i recall being so very worried at this point too, and then you start learning about the illness and with knowledge and time things settle a bit but life is never quite the same and everyone has a unique experience but is also shared in part, there is lots of helpful advice and support here for you both, my Mum is stable at the moment and enjoying being at home and although limited due to the myeloma she is having a reasonable quality of life, but we wait for the next bit that is bone biopsy results and further chemo as her liver appears now to be recovering thankfully. Mum had two cycles of RCD and it hit the myeloma hard hence her feeling better but sadly more chemo will make her feel sick in due course, it is a horrid illness and for you as a carer their is nothing worse that seeing someone that you love go through this, but the better days will come for you both and with support you will learn to cope, as Eve said Ellen and Maggie are super to talk to and can advise you on the journey as will the hospital staff, and on this form you can reach out too, love to you both San x

Georgina, your Dad needs to discuss the pain with his palliative care nurse, she can help with a drug regime which should get Dad pain free quickly, my Mum takes Oxynorm syrup just 1.25mg 5 times a day and her hip pain is now very manageable , hope that he feels better soon, take care San x

So true Dawn and thank you for the info, living in the now is certainly the best way for sufferers and carers especially with an illness like this, it takes discipline to stop yourself over thinking and thinking of problems that might or might not occur, best not to think too much!! i too have agonised over this mm with Mum and have been surprised by the twists and turns it certainly taught me something, life is so unpredictable!! but loads of good things happen too and we have met many good people on this journey so far including on this forum, San xx

Hello Eve and Slim, sorry to hear that Slim has had a bad time of it, i so hope that all is better for him soon, my Mum saw the Consultant yesterday chemo has been stopped [the rcd trial] because of the rare liver complication which the chemo drug caused apparently, she was on fragmin when she had revlimid for clots, her pp's are 3.3 at the moment but not sure how long it will stay like it now, my very best wishes to you both, this illness is hard on everyone!! take care San xx

Hi Lizzy, not sure if this helps but my Mum also has inflammed liver and has just come out of hospital i think that she is very slowly improving, still jaundiced, urine a little less dark and not feeling so sick, the hospital pharmacist thinks that its the drug combo [revlimid being one]and she too has stopped all chemo in fact really all medication except blood pressure and anti sick meds, we are waiting to see a liver specialist in the next week or so and have weekly bloods[liver function test], guess that the chemo will not start until the liver recovers somewhat so we wait to hear. I so hope that your sister feels better soon dear of her its bad enough putting up with the drug making you feel poorly and the Myeloma without added complications, San xx

Dai i wish you all the luck in the world, the better half of me is welsh, Gran was from Swansea a great woman, so pleased that you had a young Dr who was on the ball. Take care and so pleased that you are gaining ground. My Mum ended up with drug induced acute hepatitis probably due to revlimid so not sure where we are going now, she is slowly improving coming out of hospital tomorrow but her liver is damaged so hope that it slowly recovers it will be interesting to see what they will do re her trial RCD guess that it will change now maybe no chemo for a while, she has 3 cycles and pp17 but that was 5 weeks ago, well take care and sweet dreams San xx
