    Dear Chrissie,

The feeling of anger is normal and I am certain that it will pass, having experienced the same emotion for many months after my husband died. Pneumonia is a very common cause of death in MM patients, it develops very quickly so David may well have had the beginnings of it on the Wednesday but so insignificant that the x ray…[Read more]

    Hi Craig and Etta

I have not been on for a while and am just catching up with posts. I second everything that others have said regarding benefit and would add that Etta will also be entitled to a blue badge for parking. thus saving some money

    good luck Gill

  • Hi Cinzia
Every person's experience of SCT seems different My husband was diagnosed in 2008 He sailed through his first SCT and felt quite guilty as yes some people do seem to go through the mill. Unfortunately his second SCT did not take but he is on revlimid and doing well.

I do hope everything goes well for youu Good luck and keep us all…[Read more]

  • We went to the hospital at the end of last week to see Stephen's heamatologist/oncologist. The couple that came out from the Drs office just before Stephen's appointment looked shell shocked. Although the reception desk is only about 10 paces from the Doctors office they looked completely lost and a nurse had to guide them. Obviously my heart went…[Read more]

    Dear Dai,

You sound so much like my darling Patrick and I have felt that your relationship with Janet in many ways is much like ours had been. If you have said to Janet all the things you have written I believe she will find comfort in your words when you have gone.
I am so thankful that Patrick and I were able to speak openly about our…[Read more]

    Dear Chrissie,

I am so very sorry for your loss and truly I am feeling your pain right now. Davis sounded a very brave man and to be together so long you must have loved each other very much.
My darling husband Patrick lost his battle against MM eight months ago and it feels just like yesterday.
I wish I could give you the answers you…[Read more]

  • Hi All

I haven't been on for a while because, although I don't need to only post when everything is goodness and light, I felt a bit disloyal posting about Stephen being so horrid.

His prognosis is not good and we know that if next Christmas comes we will feel lucky. He has just finished his 3rd cycle of revlimid and is on dexamethasone. We…[Read more]

  • Gill replied to the topic REMISSION. in the forum General 12 years, 10 months ago

Fantastic news. Remission is a wonderful word to hear. As for SCT I believe that everyone is very different. Stephen sailed through his first SCT and felt quite guilty as others felt awful, But he was one of the unlucky ones and got very little remission from it
Fingers crossed and the best of luck

  • Gill replied to the topic Is it back? in the forum General 12 years, 10 months ago

Fingers crossed for John I know that in Stephen's case his blood does not give a very bad pp reading but his "boney" damage (spine, hip rib and sternum) tells all.
    Good luck gill

  • I have no idea what to say to you but just want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

MM is a beast of a thing for anybody but for your loved one at his age it is even more unfair

    Dear Sue,

So sorry I missed this post and to hear your bad news, I have just replied to both you and Bridget on another.

Isn't Pomalidomide an option for Michael? I have also read that low-dose melphalan has been successful. I would definately ask for a second opinion.

Do not lose hope just yet I am certain there is treatment out…[Read more]

    Hi Sue / Bridget,

Bridget, you are so naughty venturing out with a cold! I really hope you feel better soon.
Sue, Patrick's consultant took a risk with our consent and continued with Bendamustine depite his low platelet counts. Her view was that he could be given as may platelets as he needed and that it was the myeloma needing treating most.…[Read more]

  • Hi Roz,

Good to hear that a positive action came out of your visit. I do believe, from personal experience, writing things down definately helps it unscrambles your brain leaving you free to include positive thoughts which we need to get on with our lives.
I was struggling in particular with the events of the last three days of Patrick's life…[Read more]

    Hi Bridget,

I often wondered if we humans could fall asleep standing up – I may try to use this technique when I can't get a seat on the train!
As Patrick did not suffer with the tiredness in the way you do I can only guess it is because of the Thalidomide which he was not taking as part of his treatment with bendamustine.
    I am interested to…[Read more]
