I was not sure what heading to post this under, but knew that people would pick it up if they wanted too.

Stephen came home today after his second transplant. He was in for 17 days and, although that was 2 days shorter than last time, he found it all much harder.

He is in agony with his back pain (crushed vertebrae sp?)his legs won't work without crutches, and he has the "top and tail" loo problem.

Fingers crossed that he will start to improve now he is home

    Hi Gill.

Sorry to hear Stephen found the 2nd SCT much harder but so glad he's home now. Hopefully he's over the worst and on the road to recovery.

    Take care of yourselves.

    Hi Gill
Hope Stephen picks up soon, think about a good holiday in France when this over, that must take some of the pain away. When we go to Dover and watch the motor homes going on the ferries,I have pangs of jealousy knowing it is going to be some time before we manage France.

    wishing you well Eve

    Hello Gill and Steven,
I think I know just how Steven feels as Peters mega melphalan is now kicking in with all the dreadful side effects.
I sincerely hope he starts to pick up soon and you can get off to France and recuperate.
Before you go ask you medical staff for a referral to a pain specialist who can get Stevens pain under control. I can hardly believe they have let him leave hospital in so much pain. But I imagine all he wanted to do was escape!
Macmillan nurses are really good at getting to the bottom of pain and prescribing medication to combat it.
I sincerely hope life will return to 'normal ' for you both soon, as I know you will be exhausted too for different reasons.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery
    love Min

    Fingers crossed indeed.

I hope that all of Stephen's discomforts and pains disappear quickly… to be replaced by renewed energy and steady improvement.

    Hi Dai

I haven't done anything with his ashes.

Like I have explained in my email a quick hello, Rachael my daughter and Lauren my grand-daughter have just disowned me since Michael has died, we never fell out either. So his Ashes stay with me till mine goes with them. Then its up to them two.
But my new will says both ashes go together.

    Cheers

    Dear Gill,

So sorry to hear that Stephen has had such a tough time with his SCT. I hope that now you have him home he will start to feel better and regain his strength. I know how strong you are as well, but do remember to look after yourself as well. Here's to a long hot summer, anytime now(!), that you can both enjoy and re energise,

    Love to you both,

    Mari x

Thanks to everybody for your good wishes. Well, It does seem to be a slower pace than the first SCT but it is moving forward, if slowly. Stephen's appetite has returned with a renewed vigour and he makes DEMANDS (cheeky so and so!) OOOHH I realy fancy shepherds pie/sausage casserole/ spag bol. He is having a bit of a problem swallowing so his food requests are all slightly sauce or gravyish. No rump steak and chips yet:-) but I am sure that will come.

The loo run is starting to be only twice a day, and not good but his medical team said it is more than likely the medication rather than the mm and poo tests have been fairly OK. (we have a puppy that has had a loo problem so believe me I am fed up with poo and the collection of it for tests). OK far too much information!!!

His head needs a bit of weathering, as it has that bald creamy "I have had chemo" look. The weather report is fairly good for our part of the world for the week-end and we have bought some petunias, geraniums etc. to go in pots and hanging baskets, so Stephen can sit in the garden and direct me (bully that he is;-)as to how to plant them.

All in all everything is moving forward and we both feel pretty lucky at the moment considering what some others are going through.

I'd like to send our wish to John, Angelina and their daughters that they all have more time together than they are expecting and just let them know that we are thinking of them

    Much love to everybody Gillxxx
