Hi all, Many thanks for the good wishes.
It did not come as a surprise though. When I was being diagnosed with MM 3years ago I had to have 2 cat scans in quick succession. At the time there was a major row between the consultant radiologist and the haematology consultant about the number of scans I was havingin a short period of time. This was whilst I was laying on the machine. The end of the argument was that if they did not find out what was going on I was going to die then so it was the Devil or the Deep blue! So in a way I have half been expecting some other form of cancer to rear its ugly head.
The treatment seems to have got off to a poor start. Luckily I joined the Prostate Cancer UK site. The plan was to start Hormone treatment today which is tablet form and this paves the way for more aggressive treatment via an injection later. The idea is to stop production of Testosterone. If the injection is given to early it raises the testosterone level and rapidly increases the development of the cancer. The surgery has arranged for the injection 5 days after the start of the tablets. I was warned by guys on the Prostrate UK site that this is wrong and it needs to be 10 to 15 days AFTER starting taking the tablets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be telephoning my designated nurse on Tuesday to check it all out.
The magic bullet you talk of Tom is salt grain size radioactive pellets that are put into the Prostate gland to kill the cancer. I am unfortunately way past that treatment.
Kind regards ? vasbyte
