After a fairly long absence on this forum (because my wife has been doing very well on Valcade for the past 3 years) I now find I need to seek your opinions/experiences. Quite suddenly on New Years Eve (mid-afternoon) while preparing a meal, she began to talk incoherently and eventually became unconscious. She then had a seizure that…[Read more]
Hi Debs and all other kind folks.
My wife, Cecilia, has been on her current treatment of Valcade for more than 12 months now and is doing quite well TG. She has had PN for quite a while (including the dreaded cold feet) but since she went unto "Subcut" earlier this year, her PN has diminished greatly. Now she still has coldness in her feet and…[Read more]
Thank you Dai for starting this thread and allowing us (Bridgets friends) to honour her memory. I have been away for the past few days, hence my late response. As with so many others, I never had the pleasure of meeting Bridget, but yet I always felt that she knew what I needed to know when I asked a question. In other words, she inspired me to…[Read more]
I am so saddened to hear of your Mum's passing. The sentiments expressed so eleoquently by other contributors are a testament to her wonderful and many contributions to this forum. Bridget has been a great help to me and so many others over the past number of years and I know now that her work on this Earth is done. I am so sad at…[Read more]
I just want to let you know that Dai has (as is usual) given a great account of Valcade. My wife, who is 58 yrs old,has been on Valcade since last Nov and is doing very well. She was diagnosed 6 yrs ago and has had all the usual treatments (SCT, Revlimid, Thalidimide etc and many variations). Initially the Valcade was administered…[Read more]
I would be grateful if you would pass on my very best wishes to Bridget. Whereas I am on Facebook (very rarely) I could not find the MM UK website. Perhaps you could help me here?. Furthermore, I have been rather slow to contribute as much as I used to on this forum, but time is a bit hard to find. I do, however, regularly look in to…[Read more]
I have'nt been contributing to here for a good while but I do monitor most weeks. So sorry to hear that things are gone a bit awry, but knowing you (from the many wonderful and inspiring contributions that you have made) I'm sure you will overcome this latest hurdle. Wishing you well and thinking of you,
Good evening Mari.I have been caring for my wife for more than 5 years now, a lot of the "Jargon" goes over my head, so I will only tell you that she is on Velcade for over a year now and is doing quite well. In fact, compared to last Christmas, when she was just two months into that particulat treatment, she has certainly improved in strength and…[Read more]
Hello all you helpfull and delightful people.
I have not been on the forum for some weeks past, although I do read the posts when I can. Anyway, I just want to thank you for posting the info on subcutaneous injection of Valcade. As you probably know, my wife Cecilia,is now in her 6th year as an MM "member" and had a STC some years ago. She was on…[Read more]
Thank you, Eve, Bridget and Keith. Cecilia had the Hickmann Line installed some years ago and it caused fierce infection problems eventually. I had forgotten about the Picc line, so I will ask about it next time, and let you know of the outcome.
Hello good people,
I have'nt been posting here for a while, although I still look in fairly regularly. My wife, Cecilia, has been doing quite well on Velcade since last November (after a somewhat difficult start) and in effect, does not experience any more side effects, eg PN, nausea etc. We attend the clinic every two weeks for treatment and all…[Read more]
Hello there Dai,
That is a pretty detailed account, well done on your attention to detail. My wife, Cecilia, has been on Valcade since last November and she gets an infusion every second Friday (no Dex due to problems with it 2 years ago). Thank goodness she is doing quite nicely now and the dreaded side effects (PN, mouth, nose and eye…[Read more]
Hello there Roz and thanks for calling in. Never fear, you will never be forgotten on this great site 'cos you had such an important input. I hope I speak for everybody when I say this. Like you, I have'nt been contributing lately, just too busy, but I do "drop in" for a quick look now and again. I can assure you that the adage "out of sight, out…[Read more]
That sure is a tough punch. As most other people on here have said, you have been a great inspiration and I'm sure, you will continue to be for a long time to come. My wife is doing very well on Valcade for the past 4 months (and the same drug nearly killed her 3 years ago!) so I urge you to "take heart" and continue the good…[Read more]
Subject: The Black Bra
The Black Bra (as told by a woman)
I had lunch with 2 of my unmarried friends.
One is engaged, one is a mistress, and I have been married for 20+ years.
We were chatting about our relationships and decided to amaze our men
by greeting them at the door wearing a black bra, stiletto heels and a…[Read more]
