Hi Everyone.
Not sure if it’s allowed on here but I’m going to try anyway. We were told at our last support group meeting that OUR haematology ward was to be closed in November! We were told it’s due to difficulties recruiting consultants. This doesn’t sit right with me because just a few months ago plans were being discussed about increasing the size of said ward by 50% and as we know public organisations don’t move that quickly. I do know there is a shortage of haematological doctors.
We’ve been told that the trust is in talks with hospitals to the north and south of us to take all the new patients. Trouble is the hospital south of us, only 6 miles away, is full to capacity and the hospital to the north is 35 miles away and not certain to have the capacity to take the additional work.
A petition is up and running to try and get them to reconsider the closing of the ward.
Could you help by signing the petition and hopefully the trust will reconsider it’s decision.
Thanks
