I booked my flights to Dubai where my son works and have spent the past week or so on a mass shopping spree.
You know its hot out there and the shops here are full of winter gear so I got some amazing bargains from end of season sales.
My niece is going to be joining me for company during the day when son is working but I am really getting excited and feeling much much better than I have for a long while.
With no effort at all I have managed to lose over a stone in weight. Which I needed to get off but didnt have the will power, so that is a pleasant side effect of grief. The only pleasant one to date but will keep you posted.

Hi Min
So glad you are looking forward to the holiday,There is lots to do there, the only thing I found was just keeping myself covered up,except in pool or in hotel, need light clothes, taxi,s can be a bit of a rip off, negotiate before you get in.Good place to buy gold.Have a wonderful time.
Do not forget to tell us all about it when you get back.:-) eve
Hi Min,
I too am going on holiday, my sister and I are going diving in the Red Sea. Although excited I have mixed emotions as I imagine similar to you I have not been away without my husband for he last 34 yrs.
Glad to feel you are feeling much better.

Hi Min,
My heart is lifted and cheered by your news. I am so glad that you have found something to look forward to… I am sure that the days will be filled with exciting things to do and the time spent with Tony will do you the power of good. 🙂
I loved your photo of Peter and Tony and I thought at the time that if Tony's hair turned silver they would look more like brothers (twins even) rather than father and son. 😎
Your time with Emma seemed to settle you (even allowing for wet and muddy adventures) and now you get to spend some quality time with Tony. I hope your travels are frequent and that your children and Grandchildren continue to boost your spirit while you build up your physical and spiritual strength.
With much love
Dai. xxx
Tina I envy you, I cant dive but used to love snorkelling in the Maldives our favourite haunt before peter took ill. We did Egypt a few time too and loved that nearly as much.
Like you I am a little apprehensive but have to 'dip my toe in the water" some time and really do need a break. It being Dubai and Tony working there is a bonus he is overseeing a ship with 4 legs for a wind farm before taking it to sea so I am looking forward to seeing it.
The thought of doing nothing for 12 days but soaking up the sun is something to look forward to and meanwhile I haven't been away from the shops lately so thats exciting too.
Dai, if you looked closely Tony has the grey just not so much of it yet! his dad was grey from the age of 36 but distinguished with it. He is so like his Dad.
The saddest thing at the moment is my grandson is suffering from grief, terrified that his mum and dad are going to die. Its very heartbreaking and difficult for a seven year old to understand that not everyone gets cancer ( his other gran died of it ) But help is on the way at last, after some difficulties at school.
The hardest part of life is the fact that I dont have anyone to do anything for me, no one to make a cup of tea no one to wash the dishes ( When I next see him he will get a piece of my mind !) No one to mow the lawn.
But I am getting used to it slowly.
Love Min
Dear Min its lovely to hear you feeling a bit more like yourself Have a wonderful holiday with Tony and his family , the endless sunshine and shopping doesnt sound too bad either ! It is so hard for children to understand how someone they love is gonebut your grandson will find a way to come to terms with it and having you there will help him a lot . I am sure you already know but there are lots of lovely books to help children grieve , libraries or Amazon and Macmillan do excellent storybooks too . I did a lot of work with children who were grieving and what helps them most is being able to talk freely about the person they have lost , even writing letters helps them feel more in control ( sorry if you already knew all that) Have a great time and I cant wait to see some pics of Dubai even if I will be green with envy lots of love Bridget x
Hi Bridget, Tony doesn't have any children nor wants any so will have some quality mother son time 🙂 when he is not at work.
I rang my gp today to see if I can stop taking the tablets as I feel so much better but seems THE REASON I FEEL BETTER is because of the tablets and need to take them for 6 months ugh..?. But if they make life more bearable then so be it.
Had a little more retail therapy and bought one of the tablets computer tablet that is its Amazing and would recommend it to anyone you can lie in bed without your lap getting red hot from a laptop it weighs nothing about a bag of sugar. And it knows to put a capital letter after a full stop how clever is that.
Putting the final coat of gloss on the kitchen doors then its finally finished.
It has been on going since the middle of august and am so pleased its finally finished as it was diving me mad.
Hi Min
Have a wonderful time, I have just got back from Devon it was lovley ( not so hot as Dubi). Look forward to your post when you get back!

Hi Min so sorry for getting mixed up its what happens when I answer posts late at night when my poor old brain has gone to sleep. You will have a great time with your son let alone all the other stuff like sun etc! Great to hear you are feeling better and probably worth stiking with those little wonder tablets ! Min I think you are amazing with all you have gone through and finishing the kitchen too , I bet Peter would be so proud. Mind you I had to laugh about the saw even if I dont know one end of a chop saw from the other!! I would have lost a few fingers at least Have a wonderful holiday Min and I am hoping you will post some pics when you get back lots of love Bridget xx

Hi Gill I am off on Sunday30th, but getting excited /timid, spent an hour testing the suitcase and contents today.
I have to book in on line?. Thats a new one to me so should be interesting.
Looking forward to the sun, rest from walking the dogs, ( How is your Poopee) made any progress?)
I hate leaving my dogs in kennels but needs must.
I set my self a number of tasks that had to be done before I was allowed to pack my case, and completed them all today. Just remains to cut the grass one more time weather permitting and i will miss Haloween and Guy Fawkes. bliss.
And to top all that I had a lie in this morning which was a real bonus and a first.
Hope I can manage some of them on holiday!
Love Min

Bon Voyage Min. Have a great time and report back to us all on your return.

PS Poopie is getting the hang of pooing/peeing in the right place. We have realised that we were very lucky with Echo (same breed now 3) She was spotless. She would not use the poopie mat twice but would go right next to it if we had not noticed she had used it before and it needed changing (I think we worked out that the mats cost 30p per pee for her.
Mind you Echo is a very sedate, slow moving lady and Anya is a mad idiot tramp type of dog. Echo greets you with a slow wag and "allows" you to scratch behind her ear where as Anya turns herself inside out trying to climb inside you
Hope you have a lovely holiday Min, you have the time of your life xx
